Indeed, Milevsky was nearly two metres offside!

Plus England could have been given two penalties - the first when Rooney was tugged back by the shirt and the second when Carroll was clearly pushed in the back.

So although Ukraine played the better football, England deserved the win.

Unlucky, Ukraine. I hope you guys can still enjoy hosting the remainder of the tournament.

Oh.....and well played, Sweden!

Well that was a pretty rubbish performance by England but knowing Ukraine had to win they will be going all out and I knew England will go back to being cagey and not being able to complete passes! However they did throw bodies infront and defended like their lives depended on it, they showed some grit and determination.*

But what the hell happened to France? I watched the last few minutes and Sweden almost scored a 3rd goal!

It's a shame Ukraine had to go out, they have so far been great hosts and their fans have been brilliant supporters, some of the best supporters. It would've been nice to have seen England and Ukraine go through but it wasn't to be. I really had hoped Ukraine had beaten France.

I'm sure Ukraine would continue in being great host as they have already shown.

England won only by a judge! I would be happy to see how it will smash Italy .... England does not deserve to leave the group, it is better to Sweden instead it came out, Sweden was the best!

Sweden was the best...................except for the fact that they deservedly lost to England in a game in which England had more possession and created more chances and for the fact that Sweden only won 3 points from three games while France won 4 and England won 7.

But then, I see that you support Arsenal.....so I can't expect you have much grasp of how football works.

That goal by Ukraine would've been offside anyway. England does deserve to go through as they got 7 points 3 more points then France who came second. Even if Ukraine scored England still would go through. Also Sweden lost against Ukraine AND England so how do they deserve to go through.

Sweden was worth a better destiny than ending up last in group D.

Best goal of Euro 2012 so far:

By the way, that goal from Zlatan is a normal goal for Sweden against France.

Really Well Done to Sweden, didn't think they would be able to get anything from the match. They deserve praise for their performance and their fans have been great too, I am surprised at France however.

To be fair, all four countries in Group D would've gone on to the next round if they were in other groups. It was the toughest group in the championship.

I agree, whenever there is a scandal in Italy they seem to pull it out of the bag on the international stage. Remember the match fixing scandal in 2006, they still managed to go and win the World Cup. Italy will definately be favourites against England.

Sweden twice threw away leads to end up losing, and only got the win against a French team who knew they were almost certainly through anyway (although two very late Ukraine goals would actually have knocked them out) so there were clearly frailties there that got punished.

In reality it was a group that could have gone either way. No team stood out as good or bad.

I don't think anyone in England is in any doubt things will have to improve hugely if they are to beat Italy.

You can clearly see that Milevsky is nearly two metres offside when the ball is passed to him.

Further discussion about Devic's shot being over the goal line is therefore redundant.

Plus, as previously noted, England could have been awarded two penalties - one when Rooney was tugged back by the shirt, and the other when Carroll was clearly pushed in the back.

So Ukraine can have no complaints about the officials.

Interesting that that corrupt bastard, Sepp Blatter, has tweeted today that it is time for video technology to be used for goal line decisions.

Funny, that. He was still dead set against goal line technology after England were the victims of a far more obvious mistake against Germany during WC 2010 (for a legitimate goal, furthermore, rather than for one that was offside). But now that England are the beneficiaries, he's suddenly all in favour of it. ****.

The sooner he is kicked out of FIFA, the better.

The ball was at most three or four centimetres over the line. The whole of the ball has to cross the back of the line, not the front of it.

It's not that unreasonable that even someone standing dead in line a few metres away would not be able to tell with any certainty if it had crossed or not.

Are you serious? A very tight call went against you, so it must be a fix?

Rooney proved to be needed, if he is in a good day, it will be a fair match. Italy we never know, Balotelli is the most unpredictable player. Great game!!

BTW all great games, just Germany x Greece looks like there will be no surprises. For me it will be:

Portugal x Spain
Germany x England or Italy
