The France support in Donetsk today look pathetic. Spain had a good number of fans it appeared. But in the France corner looked like maybe a couple of hundred max.

I remembered the commentator on ITV (British news network) saying that France apparently took only 800 away fans to the match.

Very, very, very good. Would be even one of the best WC attendances

Do you think it can surpass the 2010 World Cup (49,670)? 18 games played so far, 7 left, but only on the larger stadiums now.
Here's the list for best-attended single-sport tournaments as it stands right now:

FA to make complaint about BBC over false information about Ukraine

The English Football Association is preparing a formal written complaint to the BBC TV channel, which before the start of the 2012 European Football Championships had a campaign aimed at the host-countries of the tournament, UK newspaper Daily Mail writes.

In May the BBC Panorama programme showed a film, which was about racism and football hooliganism in the stadiums in Ukraine and Poland, and former national team player Sol Campbell advised British people to avoid a trip to the two Eastern European countries.

But later when English fans who came to support their national team in Kyiv and Donetsk, where the "Three Lions" spent their group matches of Euro-2012, they saw the 100% untruthfulness of the TV material.
On the eve of the third round match in Group D in Ukraine, English supporters of Roy Hodgson’s team held a protest in Donetsk which ridiculed the remarks made by Campbell.

The main part of the event was a march with a coffin on which the words "Campbell, you are wrong" and "We will do what we want" were written.

England fans have repeatedly stressed that they have not encountered any problems of the nature of which emphasis was made in the BBC film.

The FA’s top brass believes that the unprofessional actions of British television deprived the national team of a great deal of support from fans at Euro-2012 in Ukraine.

Italy definately are favourites to go through to the Semi finals today, England don't yet have the pedigree to win knockout matches against the big teams. But good luck to England.

Whatever you think of the documentary, that's total rubbish.

We knew ages ago the number of travelling fans from England would be low to this tournament. A documentary one week before is not the cause. The reasons for the lower number of England fans are high hotel prices, difficulty in travel, and low expectations of the team.

Since England have reached the quarters, lots have people have been trying to travel over there but apparently flights aren't available.

It might have possibly also been a reference to local support, although there were strangely a large number of Russians in Donetsk for the France game who were wearing England/English shirts.

Four airlines (Ukraine International Airlines, Wizzair, Aerosvit, British Airways) have flights from London to Kyiv

Nope, nothing new. Was hoping Italy's wastefulness would continue. They won and deserved it. Saying that, if they'd have lost they'd have deserved that as well because they really should have scored from open play.

Indeed.

But this time, it was a relief for most English fans that they lost!

England were painful to watch during this tournament. Totally outplayed tonight. Outplayed in 3 of their 4 games, in fact.

I'm glad that we don't have to watch them again! Not least because Germany would likely have taught us an even bigger footballing lesson than they did in South Africa two years ago.

we played well for first 20 mins but from then on in Italy dominated and really deserved to win in the 90 mins, still think is young penalty had gone in England probably would have won but would have been an injustice really.

credit to Roy Hodgson though in a short space of time has brought a more together English side, they seem to care more about wearing the shirt again, only hope players like Rodwell, Walker, Wilshere, Jones, Oxalide- Chamberlain etc start playing more before 2014 and 2016 tournaments, we do have some good young players some who played in this tournament, if we keep players like Gerrard, Parker, Cole should be able to guide them well but are miles behind on the technical players.

anyway congrats to italy and good luck against the germans your going to need it

bad luck to England, I don't care what others think, I think we played well, and had plenty of chances to win the game ourselves. Roy has done a great job in putting together a team for this tournament in such a short space of time and I think we should thank him for that
Now we just gotta regroup and hopefully walk through the WC2014 qualifying group, we've got the talent in our side to go far in competitions, and I think Roy will put together a great side for the world cup
Anyway, well done to Italy who also played amazingly well, they're gonna give Germany a tough old game.

And finally, thank you to Poland and The Ukraine , for hosting a great tournament and defying the critics.

Seeya both in qualifying

The highlight of the tournament so far has been that Pirlo ''don't try this at home'' penalty.
Panenka anyone?
Superb!
