Depending on the answer to the question "dangerous to whom", definitely.

Parts of Birmingham are dangerous;

The so called Islamic republics of Small Heath, Washwood Heath, Alum Rock, Bordesley Green, Sparkhill and Sparkbrook. No go for whites after six!

Northfield, parts of Kings Heath, Kings Norton have a name....Erdington is crackhead city - the only place I feel like a super model lol. Kingstanding is notorious for race hate crimes against Asians....the BNP/EDL have a following.

Aston and Necheels have a reputation. Stechford, Lea Village and the Bromford are no gos....I did live in Lea Village, and after dark I did use to secure EVERYTHING!

Handsworth where I live had a reputation, but over the years despite the hiccup in the August riots, we're safe and there is now a strong community ethic.

Ha drama queen, you have pretty much just named a quarter of Birmingham's suburbs, don't over exaggerate. I live in Kingstanding, raised in Bordesley Green, Dad lives in Stechford, and have family and friends in majority of these areas. There was an incident in Alum Rock a few years ago with the no whites after 6 thing, however that was just a few idiots causing trouble.

Kingstanding is apparently known for its BNP support, however I have seen Asian and black families in the area who have had no trouble what so ever.

Stechford, Aston, Nechells and Erdington I have all comfortably walked around alone at night. Yes there is dodgy people, and parts on all the above areas are a little bit iffy, but come off it, you have deffinatly blew it out of proportion.

Most dangerous place is the Lake District, even Bear Grylls couldnt survive a night up there.
Most dangerous city I believe is Liverpool for its size.

You believe wrong.

For a large city, Liverpool has a low crime rate.

Liverpool has a very low crime rate overall.

The most crime ridden cities in the UK are probably London, Nottingham, Bristol and Leeds. See, deprivation does not always equal crime ridden, and vice versa.

True, the link tends to be more between inequality within cities.

Liverpool is like Berlin. Poorer than the national average but not deprived.
Deprivation means lack of opportunities and usually co-insides with poor education and high crime.
Liverpool, like Berlin, has plenty of opportunities - there's excellent educational establishments (Liverpool is the only big city to not have a single school classified as 'failing'), low crime and a lot of cultural and community activities. The only problem is the economy.
Poor, but not deprived.

I'd agree, like many things the inequality is what leads to many social ills.

Not entirely sure what the difference is between poor and deprived but Merseyside is the 4th poorest part of the country according to the EU stats...

Which most consider to be in Liverpool do they not?

I actually think northern towns and cities have equally poor people and equally rich people.

JUst different places have different ratios of the two.

Not just northern cities.
There's poverty and deprivation in London that makes even Croxteth or Newton Heath look like paradise.

Liverpool is pretty deprived.. it houses some of the UK's poorest wards. It's just not as dangerous as other cities, even cities wealthier then it such as Bristol or Leeds or even Edinburgh.

Poor, yes.
Deprived, no.

Deprived means lack of opportunities. In other words, bad schools, bad economy, high crime, bad housing, bad transport and so on.
Poor means less money than average. In other words, under performing economy.

There are most definitely areas of deprivation in Liverpool (just like there are in Manchester, London, Leeds, Nottingham etc) but the city as a whole is not deprived.

The most deprived part of the UK would probably be Teeside.
