#VISION: DUBAI CITY TOWER - 1.5 Miles (2.4km) High - 400 Stories - Page 15

This building will never be built. Dubai is done for awhile until the money comes back. Impressive run... but there is a lot more risk in building to day than there was in the last 20 years. Now maybe Dubai can start building some under 50 story infill so that it becomes a real walkable/livable city instead of a corporate mega mall.

Lol that comes from a person in Indianapolis, Indiana with unemployment rate of more then 10% in and hit hard by the economic crisis. Dobai is not done with anything. If you are really a capitalist you should know that confidence makes capitalism work and there are cycles of correction. Dubai is going through that cycle right now and is fixing the issue. You can build your under 50 story towers in Indianapolis if of course you get enough employees to build it. If you have been to Dubai you would see there are many low-rises in the Bur Dubai area of the city and guess what, you can walk there!

Why are we so jealous of Dubai? Maybe we don't feel superior anymore as a country? Maybe instead of worrying about Dubai we should worry about finding jobs for our people in the US and pay off our 12 TRILLION DOLLARS of debt and fix a 1+ TRILLION DEFICIT that we owe the world.

Dubai will neither seize to exist nor scale back because of a 80 Billion dollar debt that a company PARTIALLY owned by the Dubai government. AIG and JP Morgan Chase to name a few have to pay at least 3-4 times what Nakheel owes. I hate when people don't do their research and drink the Fox News/International media kool aid all day.

I live in Dubai and construction hasn't stopped. yes some are on hold but later this year, beginning of next the vision of Dubai will continue.

A walkable city? In New York you either need to take the subway or use your car in a city sinking in CO2 and stuck in traffic. Los Angeles is the opposite of walkable city. London is more broke than Dubai. Your advise would be perfect for London (financially) and Los Angeles (walkable comment).

This building has more chance being built in Dubai than any other place on earth!

Again I am sorry, just had to say all these things because I can't understand what happened to all the optimists in this world....

Dude i think you took what he said a little too seriously, the fact is Dubai is in a rough patch and lets face it that tower is probably near impossible from an engineering perspective, he was just commenting on the facts tbh you didnt need to insult half the cities in the world which are all great in their own ways just because he made a comment about dubais economic position.

with the announcement of the go ahead for the mile high tower in KSA this last week, the DUBAI CITY TOWER is the only serious contender to keep Dubai on Top. Be it in another 10 years or so.... but it will be done

Although, now they will be building the mile high tower in KSA... a mile and a half tower doesnt seem that much of an increase.....

How high can they go?

This Tower is what drove me to subscribe to this forum days ago although I am a biologist but I was always fascinated by towers. I visited Dubai couple of times and I know now that everything is possible there .. now what really pushed me to post here is this new report published on Thursday 18 April 2013 by OK! magazine. I am not sure why posting this now since the tower was proposed from 2008 but I am wishing that it has to do with some real intentions of at least considering moving the proposal to the next step.
