A few interesting pictures of the tower:

In 1925, 3 of the 4 sides of the tower were covered with lights, spelling out "Citroen". The giant sign remained until 1936.

In 1934, the tower was used as a giant thermometer, with numbers and lights indicating the temperature.

In 1940, when Paris fell to the Nazis, they put a large V (for victory) on the tower, as well as a banner reading: "Germany triumphs on all fronts"
