Hi,all!

I wonder if anyone can fill me in on some details regarding the part of the proposed line which "floats" downwards from Mladost1? I was wondering just where the planned route is and when, if ever, it is likely to happen.

Thanks.

It was built earlier as Hemus and NDK? Why is it in such a bad condition? What's the story?

No, it was built over the last year. It looks like that because the method used for it's construction is the Milan method of underground construction

I don't know if it will work but you can see a video of the tunnels between Hemus and NDK and the NDK station itslef in teh last seconds of this video clip.

Yes, I'm familiar with the method, but the final outcome seems a bit rough...

Lavov Bridge junction in Sofia is on three levels
Architectural monument remains fully

Dignity of the past and demands of modern life are combined in one complex civil engineering facilities to be built in Sofia.
Emblematic of the Bulgarian capital, built 120 years ago Lavov Vladaiska bridge over the River will be reconstructed and expanded.
New construction and engineering facility will maintain dignity of the past and will also meet the needs of today's transport services of the city. Reconcile various modes of transport - metro, tram, road, and the decision of the travel unit provides very good connections to the various modes, which will relieve one so busy intersection, said Sofia's chief architect Petar Dikov. The old bridge will not be affected and is fully maintained.
The new transport solution at the intersection of "Slivnitsa" and "Maria Luiza" is a road junction at three levels, combining three types of transport - road, tram and metro.
Pedestrian underpass will have to link up with the metro station. The complexity of the object is determined by the availability of river and sewage collectors realized that are parallel to the river at the north and south carriageway of Slivnitsa Blvd.

About current bridge Lavov
The project envisages a ring junction (level terrain). It is produced with the help of two additional curved bridge on both sides of the old bridge Lavov. Thus, traffic can be delivered in the circle, a tram to preserve the old bridge. The decision of the roundabout junction is consistent with the existing dimensions of the boulevards ", Maria Louisa and Slivnitsa belonging to the primary street network.
Second level provides two transport pave the tunnel - north and south, which are located on Slivnitsa Boulevard under Blvd, Maria Louisa. They will go direct directions. Carriageways of "Slivnitsa" the tunnels are 7.50 meters gauge provided dvulentovi are local footpaths and service lanes in the tunnels of 0.75 m.
On the third level passes dvupatniyat subway tunnel with a pedestrian underpass. Route of the metro is Blvd, Maria Louisa. In the northern part of the circular intersection is located metro station which was decided on two levels, upper edge of the structure is 0.60 to 1 m from ground niveleta street near the roundabout intersection. Installation is left to the transport corridor between the metro tunnel and 5 meters in width for passage of ducts for water and sanitation.
Information on the metro station "Lavov Bridge - Line 2

Really nice, clean, modern stations.
But i was wondering if a daily ridership of only ~170.000 for a 18km-line isn't a bit too low (aprox. 10% of the population)? I mean, does Sofia really need a metro system if the people are not using it? I don't want to offend anyone, just asking. Other cities have also shorter metro-lines like in Sofia, but just to bring you an example, the 23km long Warsaw line is being used by over 520.000 people every day.
Under these circumstances, how can the Sofia-metro ever get profitable? Or are the tickets so expensive, that they cover the lack of passengers?
