Could you make Montreal look any more European? Those Lachine canal shots are like impressionist paintings.

To me, if anything, Montreal looks very North American in those pics, which are great BTW.

Beautiful Martin! Good to see some UQAM. Do you mind if I add some of my own in the coming weeks? I'll be picking up a new camera this weekend and want to photograph my quartier, Rosemont, as well as St Henri, Cité Mutimédia, Faubourg Québec, La TOHU, HoMa.. some lesser-known areas.

What camera did you settle on, HFM? Consider starting a new picture thread of your own Montreal pictures! Would be quite exciting to watch you explore with your new camera.

I'm getting the Canon G9 TB. I like to take my camera everywhere so I need a compact. It has the best features that I could find including RAW, an optical viewfinder and complete manual control.
I can highly recommend Simon's. They let me take a few cameras for a spin and best of all: they're not some fvcking big box!! They've been around since 1930 and really know their stuff.

Sounds brilliant, HFM, and I look forward to seeing your experiments with the camera. Do start a thread for your pics! It would be fun to follow your development as you get to know the camera.
I agree with you.... find the best and most reputable camera shop in the city, and stick loyally to them. They will usually honour any prices offered around town, anyway, and they actually know what they are talking about!

I moved from Plateau to Rosemont last July with my girlfriend. I live not far from Masson and I can say it is a lot better than what I expected first.

Sure, it is not busy and vibrant like Plateau-Mont-Royal but I think it is a perfect mix of living in the city without the bad sides.

Otherwise, I think the place needs to be more multiethnic to add some diversity on restauration. I heard about a Peruvian restaurant but I did not tried it yet. And also, we need a good butcher!!

Fantastic pics .... I'm lucky to have such an awesome city just two hours down the highway from me, and I get to go there for two concerts next month - my camera's gonna get a workout!
