Of course, Porto, Venice, Stockholm, Mostar, Dubrovnik, Rio, Istanbul

Also Luxembourg, Luxembourg has quite a spectacular geography

And of course, Lhasa, Tibet

and Machu Picchu, though that's an ex-city

and Bam, Iran (which is a bit of an ex-city too after the 2002 earthquake)

And the French fortified islands, like Saint-Malo or Mont Saint Michel

Mont Saint Michel (and what a place to park your truck)

My top 10 (in random order)

  • Rio de Janeiro*
  • Vancouver, BC
  • Miami
  • Hong Kong
  • San Francisco
  • Cartagena
  • Venice
  • Manhattan, NYC
  • Sydney
  • Panama City**
Exibit A

Exibit B

*Rio came to mind first because (IMO) it has the very best natural setting of all.

**Exibit A - Panama City and harbour, as seen from Ancon hill.

Exibit B - (top to bottom) Strips of land: Modern PC, El Chorrillo/Casco Viejo (colonial quarter), Amador Causeway. Bodies of water: PC harbour, Panama Bay, Panama Canal

Are you trying to say that European cities are beautiful and the nicest world-wide? If so, what has that to do with the topic of this thread?

The Gold Coast, Australia

As far as coastal cities goes, I think that the Gold Coast is beautiful. With the Hinterland as a backdrop made from one of the world oldest and largest volcanoes, and 56km of pristine sand beaches in the foreground makes the Gold Coast a city like no other.

I would generally agree with that (saying that as non-European). However I wouldn't say they have the best settings on average.
