Thanks for sharing xtemujin

Personally I'm not a military aviation buff, but I am impressed by the fighter jets in action and of the technology that the RSAF uses. Overwhelming air deterrence is one of the thrusts of Singapore defence (if you read defenfing the Lion City) in expanding its strike space or something like that...

I heard that the city skyline can also be seen from Paya Lebar runway...is that true?

During my NS days I saw a Pioneer magazine's pic of PLAB with the city skyline in the distance so its true. In fact, the PLAB's runway from be seen from a Citylights penthouse at Lavender so I think they have no problem seeing the rest of the city skyline from the runway.

I have been watching the fighter planes' aerial performance over the skies from my apartment. Did not visit the Open House this year because of the bad weather.

RafflesCity,

I'm not too sure if we can see the city from PLAB.

Maverick713,

It was hot and sunny on the first day of the Open house for the public, 300808(Sat).

@Mav

Thats cool I reckon since the east is generally all flat, anything hovering or moving in the skies can be easily spotted. In fact on a clear morning I can spot aircraft flying in and out of Changi in the far distance which must be about almost half the width of the island away.

@xtemujin

nice to hear about the sunny skies in this unpredictable weather...was the crowd control good? I read bad reviews of crowd management at the Singapore Airshow earlier this year...

RafflesCity,

The crowd control was good during the 2008 RSAF open house compared to the Singapore Airshow.

HTH.
