I hate that profusely, too...it automatically gives the whole a run-down Third World look.

Luanda

people who complain about empty cities in Luanda should understand that Luanda is set to grow from 5 million people to 14 million in the next 20 years. these towns will not be empty for long. also Angola has the fastest growing middle class in sub Sahara Africa. these houses will be full soon

Although I DO know what you are talking about, there are certain people that don´t want to hear it. They enjoy looking at blood images, shoeless child soldiers running around with guns, Aids-striven population, ceaseless corruption, and endless wars coming out of Africa because that fits their view on Africa...so better don´t tell otherwise.

It's not just that, if we don't fit the exact mold that the Western world wants of us, that means we are a totally backwards corruption cesspool. And so they look for any sign of our backwardness (which is why the Chinese are so welcome, they treat Africans as equal negotiation partners).

I don't know if it is in this thread or not, but I'm sure you guys read Redvers' piece on this housing project. She went as far as calling the houses "worthless".

Nao sou grande fa de "sub-economias" planeadas.

Acho ineficiente.
