Cincinnati: 2008 Riverfest Fireworks (Including Sunset, Skyline & 600,000 People)

This is the fifth Riverfest I have been to since moving to Cincinnati in 2003 and this was the first time I wasn’t on the serpentine wall. While part of me missed the “action” of being down on the wall, I couldn’t complain since I was invited to watch the fireworks from atop Lytle Place. I did manage to get down to Yeatman’s Cove for the obligatory spinning of the Crown Victoria wheel for used casino freebees and some campaign stickers but other than that, I just stuck to shooting some photos while I worked my way through the crowd. Cincinnati must have really struck a deal with the gods above because every year during Riverfest the weather is just perfect and this year was no different. To top it off, I was able to witness one of the most spectacular sunsets I have ever seen here. With no haze, and deep yellow and orange hues, it was a site to see from Lytle Place.

One problem I encountered from the 26th floor of Lytle Place was being too close to the fireworks. I did not have my 10-20mm wide angle lens with me and the fireworks typically exploded outside of my focal length. So with that being said, my photos don’t give the Riverfest fireworks justice.
