Washington, DC

We were there for the weekend. It's muggy... The first day was rainy..

The mall and Lincoln Memorial:

I never knew that the marble used during two phases of the Washington Monument construction are different. There are three different marbles from Texas (the base), Cockeysville, Mass (upper part) and two layers of marbles from Sheffield near Baltimore.

Lincoln Memorial and Reflection Pond

That cheesy, shopping mall like WWII memorial with loud fountains distroyed the serenity.

One of the best leaders we've ever had:

History happened right here:

The backside of Lincoln Memorial faces rlington National Cemetery:

And the Federal Reserve is right across the street:

DC is extremely urban.

Brookings: I'll die a happy man if I can one day work here.

Washington Monument can be seen in downtown

What is that building?

One of the better Chinatowns in US cities:

Old post office building is the third tallest building in DC

Jefferson Memorial: It's not as big as I thought, but extremely pretty..

The view of the White House and Washington Monument:

I knocked on the door, but they are not home..

In the afternoon, the lagoon is just serene..

You can even see the Capital from the lagoon

It's been almost 10 years, are they really going to build it?

I first read about this when I was in Taiwan in the elementary school

East wing of the national gallery is designed by I.M. Pei

Most famous corner:

So many people touched it, the stone is almost falling..

For me, it looks like a big wedge of tasty marble cake

Interior:

Interior looks eerily like that in the Suzhou museum, his latest design:

It looks almost two dimensional under the sun:

Mr Jefferson complained to me that he has to stand there all the time. He said it's tiring and considered it unfair that Mr. Lincoln got a seat.

Ahh I've been there twice, amazing city.

It has this vibe of being so formal, patriotic, and incredibly important at the same time. A lot of building made me feel like I was in Colonial America.

Very nice! I was in Washington in 1998, but didn't take any photos, something I regret.
