Luanda, Angola ~ African Boomtown

Angola, off the Western coast of Africa, is expected to become the next big powerhouse of Africa. It's just now recovering from a Civil War that just ended in 2005, and their discoveries in Oil, has brought tremendous wealth. Recently, the Angolan government is discovering many ways to diversify their economy, so they won't be so dependent on oil, and that's where many of these projects come into play.

Thank you for the pictures and it's great to see Angola on the up and I agree with the oil and diamonds, Angola deserves to be big.

What is happening with the old colonial architecture is that being looked after, I saw once Angola has some cracking old buildings as well.

Secondly what is happening with the railway network, is that slowly being rebuilt as well?

Thanks for the comment. About the colonial architecture, slowly but surely a lot of older structures are being preserved, but some are unlucky. There still needs to be work done, but it's coming along.

The railway construction is really big right now. I know that they're restoring all the lines that got destroyed during the civil war, and they're adding new ones to connect Luanda better to some of the other cities. I think the total cost is over 1 Billion dollars, but I'm not sure, it could be more or less. There's more information on this at the National Reconstruction Thread, in the Angola forum if you have further interests in railroad development.
