Fabulous. The only decent building we've built for the Olympics, IMO.

Those attending the test events have been warned temperatures in the velodrome will be 28C.

Toasty.

Now that was good. Looks like this is a very fast track. Just seen two - or was it three? - World Records go in the last hour. Seems to hold the noise of the crowd well too.

It's a shame that it is only 6000 capacity, we could sell it out 10 times over. There seems to be a real love for cycling at the moment

We could have added wings like at the Aquatics centre then everyone would have loved it!

6,000 is a huge capacity for a velodrome. As Eddyk said if they ended up putting temporary wings on the sides like the Aquatics centre people would start complaining that it doesn't look aesthetically pleasing or it looks cheap.

Oh and the Velodrome has so far lived up to its hype; the world records and the wall of noise.

DarJoLe mentioned a while ago that that was actually considered for this venue.

It had never been considered and no offence to the poster but I know several of the teams that have been involved in this venue since the start.

The venue has been specifically designed from the start in both games and legacy mode.

Yes the design never changed but after Beijing with the success of British cycling and realising the potential for more spectators there was a hypothetical 'what if' discussion about placing a temporary stand on the north side with another tier of seating. It never got any further than one meeting as logistically the trade off of adapting the design and issues that would throw up vs more spectators was too great and was no more was said or discussed!

Either way it's a fantastic venue that has shown the forward planning paying off, in fact I think it's better with the smaller crowd. My only gripe is the huge video boards could have been integrated a bit better, but still a minor misnomer.

Lumpen doesn't mean the same as lumpy. Are you saying the grassy banks are plebian?

Rogue. As in, wild. I was kind of expecting the planting to be very ordered; English country beds etc. Instead, they've planted perennials like periwinkle, which will take over. Also, the wild meadows look a bit odd before they've flowered. It will no doubt look great come July.
