Royal Navy frigate makes 10-day call
Hong Kong Standard Wednesday, September 10, 2008 ![]() Source : Royal Navy British warship HMS Kent has dropped anchor in Victoria Harbour for a logistics stop and rest and relaxation for 10 days. The Royal Navy frigate is on a six- month series of search-and-rescue exercises in the Asia-Pacific region. Commander Simon Hopper said the tour is to show the British government's continuing commitment to stability and security in the region. The 133-meter warship will conduct exercises with the Government Flying Service. The 4,900-tonne frigate, which has a complement of about 180, will also host guests from the Stanley Sea School, the sea and air cadets, Hoi Luen Society, scouts, the Naval Institute of Hong Kong and the Polytechnic Marine Institute. |
