Here a little (bad) simulation of the building mass with 200m and the 2 spires and the DB Logo in between, it shows how well a building this size would fit there:
Pic is mine.

As I already said: Totally out of place. I hope they're going to take another proposed tower - how about the Millennium Tower? With an anchor tenant, it could easily get build.

The location is okay. All in all Frankfurt has only around the Commerzbank Tower, something that can be called a cluster. Messeturm, FFHV, DG,... are standing somehow alone.

The location is good. Will be an amazing view when arriving by train (or bus).

The Messeturm has no cluster either and became a landmark of Frankfurt. Same will hopefully happen with the Bahn tower.
Furthermore, without the Bahn tower this area will never get developed. At least not in a qualitative way and so soon. Perhaps some cheap Motel-one or Etape hotels.

Very good news. But what I found really strange, was that the Greens only gave their okay after a bunch of must-dos for Deutsche Bahn! There will be 160 apartments for social welfare (Sozialwohnungen!!!) which I hope will fill the lowest floors! Another bunch of chic apartments. And Deutsche Bahn is responsible for the construction of the bus station that will be made next to the tower (underground bus station they said would be completely superfluous). And they have to participate in the creation of a park in the Osthafen area. That is a BUNCH to do for Bahn, only to build the tower with a height exceeding 200m instead of 150m. But Bahn said it was okay. Well then...

Don't think they will locate the social housing within the tower. Normally they can build it somewhere nearby. And the height was increased from 100 to 210m.

But its all written in the FAZ article.

and one more time again: there wont be ANY appartements at the towers location, they will be built somewhere else. and it`s not that bad for frankfurt if investors have to give some presents to the city in return for admission to build their skyscrapers (english theatre- gallileo, thurn&taxis palais reconstruction -ffh4, park enhancement - opernturm,...)

Yes, I read the article AFTERWARDS.... I only heard a friend of mine saying something like that. I was kinda surprised, but when I heard the Greens were involved, I could really imagine sth like that. But would have been rubbish anyway. Why increasing the tower 100m if you waste 70m of the height increase for apartments,...

Some new Rumors about the project:

A Insider told us who is posting in a german forum (not DAF) that the height will be increased according to the counted floors on a rendering which he saw to up to 250m, NOT included the antennas on top which also are very high according to the user.
The design looks a bit like the old campanile design with 3 setbacks and a massive base, like a smaller version of the Trump Tower Chicago.
The look will be very technical, with a lot of vertical elements and visible cross structures on the sides.

I hope your insider will be right! Everything you mentioned is just what I'd like to see: Height increase, visible cross structres (kind of technical, industrial design), setbacks...I hope it will be not too good to be true

Thanks for that information!
