Although it is highly underrated, I do like the Chinatown in Philadelphia. There's a few good restaurants there, a grocery, again lots of Pho (vietnamese influence showing up again), and some good chinese bakeries.

Richmond near Vancouver has to be the best I've been to. The Aberdeen Center was just amazing with all the great food. I was staying overnight across the street in the Radisson and my wife who was born in Beijing was very impressed. As my wife tells me it's the older chinese people who need the support network who live in the traditional old Chinatowns. New immigrants and younger, more educated Chinese can usually live anywhere they choose.

I went to Cuba last year and was surprised to find that Havana actually has a Chinatown

I believe the most impressive Chinatown in the U.S. was New York followed closely by San Francisco.

The Chinatown in Toronto was impressive, surprised me. The picture of Melbourne was great, but I have never been to Australia to comment.
