Great photos! Homeland is such a nice neighborhood.

About Howard Park, I would assume most of it is blighted and a poorer nabe, but is it ?
Yep! North Baltimore. And Howard Park may be less than average money-wise, but the blight is not as apparent as that photographer would lead you to beleive. Actually, there are some really great streets in the neighborhood. some areas are gritty, but there are really nice houses and areas of Howard Park. Like here -

Row-homes FTW!

Something I noticed many about the rows in Baltimore, even D.C. and Philly are similar width, containing 2 windows on each floor, front and back. There are row-home structures which have 3 in this cities too, but 2 seems to be very common also. In NYC, the mainstream for rows of many different proportions are 3 windows.

Yessssssssss!!!!!!!!! I saw those two characters! With the heat and humidity, I felt bad for the ones who dressed up in the FULL BODY suits: Pikachu, The Powerpuff Girls, The Simpsons, Robocop, english dutchmen, Big Bird, strippers dressed in dominatrix outfits, and so on. So yes, they had everything you could imagine out there this past weekend. It was wild to see.

That's nothing. You ought to see NYC's annual Halloween parade through the Village, or the gay pride parade. "Not that there is anything wrong with it."

What is their connection with the City??? I am glad that they come here every year and spend money.. Hope the Convention folks can keep them and they arent lured away to Portland (OR)or some other place that may be considered more "trendy"

The non-profit that runs the event is located somewhere in Pennsylvania and the event had other locations before being here. They spent a few years in State College and Arlington before coming here. Once it got to to the Convention Center, it just grew and grew (it started in a Day's Inn meeting room) and there wasn't any reason to move. I don't know if it's still under consideration, but at one time, they thought about using the arena too.

There are some beautiful and interesting pictures in this thread. However, I would like to see some which incorporates light rail in them. It's rather curious that most of what I have seen here does not.

because howard street is kinda uninteresting to look at and since the light rail runs down the median ... I found one on google that is kinda nice, but none that Ive seen actually show light rail trains on the tracks. Apparently this picture is from 1997 but not much has changed, most of the buildings are the same
