I thought of many of those.

All the European cities could be good candidates but I am skeptical that a games will easily find itself way to a nation under 20 million again. I don't rule it out but I think the deck is stacked.

India I think also very well could happen in the latter half of the century but I am don't have complete confidence they will get their Olympic profile raised adequately. India's size may coerce the IOC go there though. Osaka would be a good candidate to replace Tokyo but my gut tells me it will find itself like London/Paris. Santiago I could easily see host but again Chile isn't a very large nation. I also wouldn't be surprised if Brazil got a second games. My Tehran choice was predicated on substantial political change.

Yeah, its impossible to tell as the world is changing all the time and current trend seems to be put your best city forward to better the chances.

Depending how sucessful the Youth Games are and the conditions the IOC have in place for them, maybe smaller and lesser known cities would be able to get them

Summer Olympics
2020 - Tokyo
2024 - Paris
2028 - Cape Town

IronMan99, you're right to agree with my list

World Cup
2018 - England
2022 - U.S.
(I'd really put my money on these two. After South Africa and Brazil, FIFA will be looking for safe choices in the 2018-2022 hosts)
2026 - Australia
2030 - Russia (Argentina-Uruguay is not a viable bid)

FIFA will extinguish the current 1host-2out rotational rule somewhere between the 2018-2022 and the 2030 WC host choices. It's not viable in the long term.

Charlotte
or
Baltimore.

Though by 2050 even Raleligh/Durham might be big enough.
Not that small......those cities.

Again with the dual hosts. I meant those that have already hosted a Winter Olympics and as you say will host again.

This is highly unlikely, especially for Lillehammer, in which the Olympics have definitely gone out of reach for them.

The only viable 2nd time Winter Olympics host in that list I can see is Sarajevo. To see how they do another Olympics, what with what happened after 1984 in the 1990's with the Bosnian War and such.

Quebec City will definitely host, but much sooner than 2054, maybe in the 2020's. 2022 might be too soon, so maybe a bid from them and then try for 2030 (assuming that they take turns with Toronto in the bidding cycle, and Toronto loses 2024).

Queenstown is another unlikely, I'd expect the bid just to be Dunedin, using the ski resorts at Queenstown and Wanaka, as well as developing new resorts at the mountains near Dunedin for the snow sports that don't need a big vertical, or even the ski jump and sliding track.

As for the World Cup, it's highly unlikely that there will be a successful Argentina-Uruguay bid, even if it is for sentimental and anniversary reasons. It would be far lopsided than the other joint nation bids we have seen, as Argentina would probably boast 9 stadiums whilst Uruguay may host 3.

Most likely it will not go to Australia that many times. There are so many other Asian cities in China, India, Indonesia, Vietnam, Pakistan etc with more population than Australia, that are able to host. Australia is just too small to be significant.

I think that's reasonable. In terms of the countries you mentioned alot of them arn't money makers for the IOC. Who wants to go to pakistan?

It will probably go to India, China, Vietnam, Pakistan and Indonesia a few times each before going back to Australia. I mean, Australia is great, but the IOC wants to reach more people. Especially countries like India and China will continue to boom economically over the next few decades. They are the big money makers for the IOC. Other Asian countries like Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, countries in the Middle East and New Zealand will get their chances. You really should not be greedy here, it will not go back to Australia before all these other countries get their chances.

As I said IOC know they will get money out of Australia, so I doubt they'd rule us out.

But for the other bar say India, China, Singapore, Malaysia are they sure they could make money?
