Who makes the Iranian rapid transit cars? Is it domestically produced? Or foreign?

The early ones were Chinese I think. They're manufactured in Iran now.

The subway looks really cool, but what the hell is that?

Each batch of cabins have one women only cabin, the rest are mixed. I'm surprised people still don't know about this, it's been explained so many times.

Thanks for the information...
Puuuh when i saw this marking first I thought that men and women are seperated in the metro.
But I think it's an interesting idea to give the women one own wagon!

Good development...if you keep watching CNN and read US media crap like New York Times you'd think that the Persians ride donkeys or old Paykans!!!

Thanks to the internet we can see the real situation!! The fact that all of the US enemies such as China,Russia, Iran and the Muslim nations are embracing public transport while the Americans are stuck with their foreign made cars that are killing their industrial base and shipping al those QE2 money overseas.

It's good that they are already building line 3 and 7.
They really have to build as much and as fast as they can. The metro is the most efficient weapon to fight Tehran's traffic and polution problems.

Thanks for the pics

I've had this question for so long now:

According to these maps in the trains, in future line 4 will run from Azadi to Shahrak Bimeh - Shahrak Ekbatan - Ekbatan Station (Line 5)
No Mehrabad Airport!

This got me puzzled. All the time I was thinking line 4 would connect the airport, which is a very reasonable thing to do after all

Does anybody know the story for certain?

-Won't the airport be connected at all, because it is going to be closed down in future anyway?
-Is the first priority to connect Ekbatan, and an additional turnout to the airport be built afterwards?

I think its the 2nd option, because thats also what this map indicates, but can somebody give a confirmation?

I think the second scenario is more realistic. Even if it's closing the station is still useful when the airport is convereted to a major city park.

www.lrta.org says that Mashhad will open a metro, but you say it'll be a light rail. Which is true?

Awesome!

Thanks for the map!

It certainly answers a lot of questions.

If we have this network in place by 2012 (or 2013) we can be more than content.
It would be already a great network, and there still more to come.

-Line 7 is U/C already and won't need that much to be completed anymore.
-The Central railway station and Mehrabad Airport would be connected. That would leave IKI Airport, but that only requires an extension of line 3.
-An eastern commuter line from Tehran Pars torwards Pardis is a realistic prospect.

So things don't look that dark afterall

Respect to Tehran Metro and Tehran Municipality.
