LAHORE | Remodeling of Multan Road | Infrastructure | U/C
Multan Road upgrades ‘to begin soon’
LAHORE: Nazim Amer Mehmood has said that the reconstruction of Multan Road from Chauburji Chowk to Thokar Niaz Baig, costing Rs 1.5 billion, will begin soon. The nazim told a city government meeting on Tuesday that the project would reconstruct about 12.87 kilometres of the road. He said the reconstructed road would be three lanes on both sides. He said a water drainage system would be built on both sides and that traffic signals and lights would also be installed. Amer asked Executive District Officer (Work) Rana Muhammad Ghaus to get the help of Town Municipal Administrations (TMAs) to remove encroachments along the road. Multan Road, from Chauburji Chowk to Thokar Niaz Baig was constructed in 1988 and is the main link between Lahore and Multan. The road also serves local traffic going to and fro Raiwind, the Civil Secretariat, the District Courts and Azadi Chowk. The road provides direct access to the Motorway (M2) via Bund Road and to Lahore Ring Road via Gulshan-e-Ravi. According to a survey, conducted by the Planning and Design Directorate of the Punjab government in 2006, about 24,071 public transport vehicles and 37,945 private vehicles plied the road every day. The road remains busy and congested 24 hours due to dense traffic. Large industrial vehicles also have a heavy presence on the road, especially in the proximity of Bund Road. Numerous residential colonies, shops, plazas and petrol pumps along the road also add to the traffic. Reportedly, people of the area suffer due to traffic jams and the poor condition of pavements. staff report Last edited by RANA AAA; October 7th, 2010 at 07:31 AM. |

I Dont understand what they want to do with this road. I visited Lahore thrice during last two years, and stayed at Allama Iqbal Town and Sabzazar.Keeping in view the heavy traffic, a three-lane road is just wastage of mobney. Instead they must build fly-overs and underpasses to facilitate the traffic especially there isnt any entrance into Sabzazar and other colonies except Multan Road. They are all misadfventures of LDA, All blocked housing society with narrow streets

RANA GEE TELL THREE POINTS PLEAZEEEE, 1ST POINT : when they r going to start this project , 2ND POINT, if we look at this picture, i dont think so they r build 3 lanes on both sides the road is very small on both sides they should have to collapse shops on both sides without destroy it should be impossible 3 lanes on both sides plus service road, 3RD POINT IS: during the renovating the road, the electricity wires should be underground or it will look like same , which is show in this picture.
PLEASE RANA GEE TELL US THESE THREE POINTS |
