Cladding looks pretty good completed.

The "Jenga" building in Tribeca looks pretty amazing, doesn't it? 56 Leonard Street is an 821 feet (250 m) tall, 57-story skyscraper currently under construction on Leonard Street in Tribeca, New York City. The Pritzker Prize-winning Swiss architecture f by Moda Realty, on Flickr

From early April- not exactly the base, but pretty close.

The base has been nothing but concrete and scaffolding as the staging area for this project is super tight. I haven't been by there in a couple weeks but I doubt there's anything to see just yet.

In response to the post by kznyc2k, there actually is quite a bit to see at 56 Leonard. Though there now is sidewalk level fencing and canopy scaffolding on Leonard Street, access to the front door of the lobby cuts through the fencing. While you can't get in the building without security clearance, the lobby area, largely finished, is visible through the glass doors. The building cladding is complete except for the glass that will cover the second floor parking area. On the Church Street side, all the equipment associated with the construction lift is still onsite and the "sidewalk" goes under the first floor ceiling. But that probably will disappear in the not too distant future. All in all, construction is in its final stages.

Are they going to put some sort of parapet or cladding around the BMU and mech equipment on the roof? That stuff sitting out in the open completely ruins the lines of the building.

Cladding Nearing Completion at 56 Leonard Street in Tribeca

Quote:
Recent photos from our Forum reveal the state of progress at 56 Leonard Street, the 57-storey, Hines-developed, Herzog & de Meuron Architekten-designed, residential tower now under construction in the heart of New York's Tribeca neighbourhood in Lower Manhattan. With most of the exterior glass cladding now installed, the distinct asymetrical series of cantilevered units and balconies have now taken shape, and the full effect of the tower's unique silhouette is now clearly visible on the Manhattan skyline.

Turned out a 7.5/10 for me. Would have been a 9 if those cluttered window frames weren't there. I hope that bubble sculpture at the base will still be put.

Yeah, the white frames is a good example of over design. Hate them, but this building still makes me happy!
