Nice, so this and next weekend they will install pre-cast concrete vaults for the basement.

In my opinion it looks odd in this photo but in general it's an amazing project!
How much will be an apartment there?

I'm so glad to see this back on track! This always was one of my favorite designs, not just for New York, but generally. It should be quite interesting to watch the construction.

Maybe it looks odd because it's the tallest tower in the pic. When this is finished there are several taller towers not yet in that pic, by then it's not that odd I think.

First off, nice rendering. Second about prices, we don't know if the developer plans to keep the pricing for the building that was used in 2008 before it went on hold, but back then units started at $3.5M and went up to $33M. I would expect $3.5M to again be around the bottom, but I do expect the penthouses to go for north of $33M. But, we'll just have to wait and see.

..
In terms of design style it is very different from the surrounding towers. No problem to me anyway.

From what I know its location isn't as prestigeous as that of the towers on and arround 5th street. But still it will have good views.

First time I've seen concrete trucks on site. There was a second truck off to the right, but it was behind a fence that had black netting on it so you couldn't really see it from this angle.

I thought at least the lower part of the tower would look decent but from that render I see that it's hideous from top to bottom

Hideous and vomiting? Your just trolling, you can't be serious!!!

This tower is brilliant, a masterpiece by some of the most innovative architects in the world today and something that is incredibly unique and novel for NY. Hopefully this tower will pave the way for more unusual iconic tower designs.

When finished it will give great views looking up when standing at the base.
And I think this tower will be very transparent when the sun shines through.

Yes, the views will be stunning looking up. It reminds me of a modern art masterpiece painting.

Yeah, it is innovative, but in a very bad way. And yeah, it contributes to the skyline but again in a very bad way. It gives an otherwise harmonic skyline chaos and uglyness. I had always hoped that the US won't become home to such ugly kitches, I guess I was wrong

To each his own. This is definitely a very unique design, and because of that it's the type of building people will either adore or hate. I think the finished product will be just sensational, but either way it'll be fun to watch this rise.

Lowermanhattan.info now says crane could be installed as early as Feb 2-3. Or the following weekend of the 9th in the event of inclement weather.

Innovative out-of-the-box designs such as these are being built all over the world, especially in your Europe where these architects hail from. Did you really think that the US would never get any such new trendy cutting edge designs, especially in NYC where most foreign investment is going? That is ridiculous. Also, this building is far from kitsch. Do people call modernist painting full of repeating geometric forms kitsch? No, so why would you call this one that label? This is a high quality original artistic statement, an explosion of the typical box. It is far removed from some some tacky Dubai or Vegas design that attempt to copy or emulate styles from previous eras or steal from famous landmarks.

As for making the skyline ugly, well I vehemently disagree. The skyline currently is no picture of perfection. It has its share of ugly as sin buildings. This is hardly going to 'ruin' the skyline. I fully expect it to enhance it.
