As if all the recent toothpick towers completely out of proportion add anything...

Not really. This building isn't nearly tall enough to do that. The design is original, but not in a radical way. Buildings like this always seem to look a lot more conservative in reality as well. Remember, a lot of buildings were originally believed to ruin a skyline, and later, nearly all were accepted. In fact, the more unusual they are, the more treasured they will be once they have established themselves as a part of the city.

I personally very much look forward to this rising, and hope that others innovative buildings will be constructed in the near future.

I like this building, it's something different. Also a 250m tall skyscraper can't ruin New York's skyline.

Another lovely (slender) tower for New York, nice addition for Lower Manhattan.

If he posted that on 1 february, the next weekend was actually last weekend, so the crane should have gone up last weekend.:

Yeah, that's old info. The delay is likely weather related. The crane should be going up sometime this month though.

To me it looks more like a nice girl with the clothes missing. Beautifull.

I agree -anything described as "cutting edge" has to be suspect straight away - what that really means is that it will be dated as hell in a few short years, today's innovative is tomorrow's junk, we've seen it all before! Had to be European architects, American architects, generally but not always, have better taste.

Tribeca's Long-Stalled 56 Leonard Is Finally On The Market

Quote:
56 Leonard promises, and 56 Leonard delivers…eventually. The long-stalled Tribeca building announced its comeback in October, only a week before resuming construction. Now the Herzog & de Meuron-designed tower is officially on the market. Nine listings have popped up on StreetEasy, ranging in price from a 2BR for $3.625 million to a 4BR penthouse for $24 million.

Well, the penthouse is only a quarter worth of what the One57 penthouse is worth.

I actually like the floor plan of the penthouse, two terraces and a balcony with views of Downtown and Midtown
