Update on 56 Leonard! With WTC pics as well, since it's just a small stump.

Somebody should fix this thread. 821 feet is only 250 meters, not 253 and both CTBUH and SSP say 250 meters/821 feet

Well, it depends what kind of layout, sq footage and what floor. Higher floors are more. Price for a 3br can range between $5 m to 9.5m in this building.

This is definitely not on my list of favorite projects but it makes the most interesting list.

I just hope this will translate better as it rises and end up better than the renderings.

It's definitley an unusual design. We have roughly 6,000 plus buildings (Highrises/skyscrapers) in Manhattan and it's refreshing in a way that we have something so completely different.

All architects view their creations as art and art is subjective. It sole reason is stir emotions way or the other. This is definitley the most unique project in manhattan.

When completed, they should put a toy store nearby that sells Jenga Blocks! They would make a fortune!

yes, and anyone who says this tower destroys the skyline is simply wrong. even if it would be a really bad design. you simply can't destroy the skyline of NYC with one 250m tower .
But it isn't a bad design, it's just great and will fit perfect in Downtown

Sometimes unusual structures or buildings are despised in the beginning but eventually become well liked or even icons of certain cities. The Eiffel Tower received similar criticism in the days of it's construction but is now of course the most recognizeable structure in Paris. This building with its much shorter height will never be in that league of course but I find it to be an interesting design that is far better than the common box shaped buildings and I think in the future it's likely that it will come to be accepted and appreciated for its originality.

^ Yes if anything its different and unique and i think that it's a good thing and refreshing to have something different in our skyline. IMO, I don't think this will ruin the cityscape at all. We have so many of the "same box like" skyscrapers that this will be refreshing and most definitely become landmarked becuase of its uniqueness. It may become revered when it's all said and done.

I'm still waiting for a pyramid type of skyscraper like the Shard gracing our skyline. It would be perfect for the proposed 1 Vanderbilt Tower @ Grand Central should the Midtown East rezoning is approved.

There are more rezonings planned? I thought there would be one rezoning for all of manhattan. How does this rezoning process work?
