this ones for you Lou!

http://ny.curbed.com/archives/2011/0..._to_market.php

It's certainly been a long journey for the penthouse at 50 Gramercy Park North. Jon Asgeir Johannesson, a once successful Icelandic businessman had big plans to combine his simplex unit with the duplex penthouse, creating a massive 7,000 square foot apartment for a total of $24 million. After the economy took a turn for the worse, the simplex apartment was rented out to Paramount Realty. And that's when things got weird. Paramount sued Johannesson for installing "low budget" Ikea furniture and the odd case of the chewed-up chicken wings that were being dropped onto their 16th-floor terrace from the couple's penthouse. Rude!

Back in February, after some legal concerns over how he mysteriously paid off his $10 million mortgage after claiming to only have one million pounds, another Icelandic businessman bought the penthouse for $22M. Apparently he didn't love it enough to stick around and the Ikea-furnished penthouse is back on the market asking $21,400,000. Maybe another well-known Icelandic buyer could give this place a try. If she hadn't already bought in Brooklyn, that is.

Thanks for the update! I'm really grooving on these concave profiles. This buidling will be like nothing else in NY and these details speak volumes.

This is one fun project to watch rise.

The building is innovative but hopefully it won't turn out looking tacky. The sales figures are impressive, but that is mostly a function of it being in Tribeca rather than its whacky design I would assume.

It could have been better, but I don't think it'll look that tacky. It'll certainly be impressive from ground level.

Looks to be about 27 meters tall atm but itps hard to judge just from a pic. We'd definitely need some plans to show us the exact heights of the floors

I just think that NYC deserves beautiful buildings like they used to be 100 years ago.

why?
the place is very busy and not convenient. after all this is a small space, but potentially this place and area is golden - new restaurants and shops are opening all over the place around it.

Maybe he means the complexity of this project.

I love this project, look at that concrete, it looks as great as on 432 Park.
