Interesting design. At least more skyscrapers for lower NYC.

56 Leonard continues to steamroll the downtown market. StreetEasy shows only six available units—and 130 in contract. The 60th floor penthouse sold for a record-setting $47 million, while two others, both listed at $31.5 million, are also spoken for. And let's not forget that a measly storage unit sold for a whopping $300,000.

If you are interested in watching the floors plans of the apartments, here there are, all the 136 different of them.
http://streeteasy.com/nyc/building/5...ork/floorplans

I think it is not surprising it is almost sold out, it is a good building with good apartments, with prices that are lower than in other similar buildings, Maybe it is not located in what it is considered the best area, but I guess it is not bad either. The apartments have good views even in lower floors. I guess most of the people buying there will actually live in the building.

Also many apartments in this tower have nice balconies, which is achieved without destroying the design. A rare feature in NY residential skyscraper.

I think about to build a similar Tower in Minecraft. Would look quite cool if done well.

The last one unsold: 56 Leonard PH asking $31M
http://therealdeal.com/blog/2013/10/...ph-asking-31m/

Quote:
The eighth and last full-floor penthouse condominium at 56 Leonard is up for grabs. Izak Senbahar’s 60-story tower in Tribeca is close to $1 billion in sales. Two penthouses went for $29.5 million and $27.5 million in the last two weeks. The pad still looking for a buyer — No. 58 — is a five-bedroom, five-and-a-half-bathroom unit with an asking price of $31 million. It features 14-foot-high ceilings, more than 700 square feet of outdoor space and 5,500 square feet inside. In August, the skyscraper sold a 200-square-foot storage unit in the basement for $300,000 — about $1,500 per square foot, as previously reported - See more at: http://therealdeal.com/blog/2013/10/....cjGrLp8k.dpuf

Very unique design! For some reason the very top makes me think of a Jenga tower!

Is it possible for anyone to go and take photos of this to update us all? As it's been almost a month since we last got anything, this has probably gained a few floors since!

Seconded. I can't wait to see this, especially when they start throwing on some cladding. I wish they'd put up an earthcam here -- this thing is fascinating to watch and the eventual time-lapse would be WILD.

I expect this tower to rise very slowly because it is a complex tower to build. I dunno the current height, but yes please someone takes some current snapshots of this tower! Would be much appreciated

Just Today they published some pictures at SSP, I am resposting them here, but it hasn't been much progress.

The first ones are from Tectonic and are from oct 1st, I posted them to compare the progress that as I said it hasn't been much.

The second ones are from mrnyc , taken today

October 1st

As you can see not much more progress, on oct 1st, there were two floors in construction above that first setback at the fourth floor, six floors total + ground floor. Today, still the same two floors / six total, but they raised the formwork.

I'm noticing a Falling Waters inspiration on the bottom floors. Maybe on the whole tower. That and, of course, Jenga.

Better to have slow progress than no progress.

With no 2 equal floors, on top of each other I expect this construction to be much slower than 432Park for example.

When you witness 56 Leonard's T/O - ceremony, you'll finally grasp that you've spent too much time on SSC.
