Buongiorno, amici!

The glass is rising, and it is as beautiful as Turandot!

Wow, another stunning building for NYC. This tower is so sublime. I can't imagine having the penthouse, what a view it would be. Some people are so lucky. The design is sensational. What a unique design. I can't believe it, it truly is something to behold.

33 Thomas St is awesome. It is like a mountain in the city. Seriously, it is strangely popular. If you want a building to hate, I present to you 375 Pearl Street; AKA: the Verizon building.

I have murderous thoughts whenever I'm near that building....
Actually, I'd be curious to know how that managed to go up without any complains. It must be a 60's building, which explains it.

The 80s and 90s produced far worse than anything from the 60s. 60s is historic.
Especially in the suburbs...

What I meant to say, is that I wonder if it went up in the 60s - before we had a lot of the current review process. Not really a comment on the period/style itself.

I would like 375 pearl better if it wasn't in such a prominent spot right by the Brooklyn Bridge. If it was buried in midtown among skyscrapers it wouldn't be too bad

That 33 St. Thomas is a powerfully ugly building. What were they thinking?

33 Thomas belongs in a dystopic hellhole of a city. Certainly not New York.

Well, I think the Verizon Building is one of the most beautiful buildings in the city. It's geometrical shapes are very elegant and the facade gives a very unique, Giza pyramid-like look to it. I never understood why people hated this building

Because it actually has something overwhelming and very confidential.
Reminds me of a giant external hard drive.
That building has nothing ugly;it's just in the wrong location.
Personnaly i would "relocate"that baby in beautiful Brasilia...

In short, they were thinking about protecting the eastern seaboard's critical telecommunication infrastructure.

It was originally designed to house AT&T's long-distance line switches, very sensitive and very important equipment. No windows, no interference. It holds ultra-secure data centers now, amongst other things (think rows and rows of super-chilled servers). I read somewhere that it can be entirely self-sufficient for 2 weeks and is capable of withstanding a nuclear blast (it was built at the height of the Cold War, after all). I believe a lot of transatlantic cabling terminates here as well.

Personally, I think it's pure Gotham. I love it.

Strange, I thought this topic was about 56 Leonard, not 33 St Thomas.

A lot more glass has gone up since this photo. It looks like mirrors.

Do you need to upload photos to a Flicker account or something before posting?

yes, most people use flickr; you then copy the full URL to the picture(not the page in which the picture is located), then posting here you either press the 'Insert Image' icon or by typing after it
