Good to see a developer not cheap-out on the cladding, aka as "The Toronto Syndrome". This building is going to cut quite a unique figure on the skyline - I guess it already is.

Which Toronto building cheaped out on its cladding?

I know about Vancouveritis, which is building countless green glass condo towers.

There's decent quality in both TO and Vancouver but as always if too much of the same thing gets built everyone suffers fatigue. It's nice to see glassy towers in NYC for now but if they take over Manhattan (fairly unlikely) everyone will be complaining too.

People would be complaining in NY if so much became glass but the issue in TO in so many developments is quality of glass and construction. It's not that they're glass, it's that many of the glass and materials just look shoddy and cheap. NY doesn't seem to have that problem with their glass towers yet.

I really hope the top floors won't ruin it.

It's very difficult to predict whether or not they will turn out tastefully or be too much.

Is it very difficult to look at the renderings?

Well renders only show a few select angles. There's always the possibility of the architects/developers/rendering firm selecting only the angles from which the tower looks best. So we'll only get a proper sense of what the thing looks like from all angles when it's built.

It's a fairly common anxiety on these forums, that something might not turn out as well as it's been depicted, and with something this complex, I think that anxiety is heightened. Considering how avant garde this design is, we can already expect the reactions to be especially polarized, however it turns out.

I think this is going to be one of those projects that will be really hard to judge until the crane, lift, netting, etc are all removed. It's just too complex.
