This is by far my biggest deception at NYC in the last 5 or more years, the design had so much potencial to become an icon and they manage to complete ruin it.

Simple and plain, it looks cheap, so cheap, the blueish cheap glass is clearly a bad choice and the "base" between floors does not look anything similar to the renders, which had a "silver" finish, it is just a cheap concrete.

It definitely looks like a tower that belongs to Mumbai or any of this third world cities.

LOL

This is not the sidewalk kid, this is the part of the land parcel so the developer can do whatever they want.

Wait for it to be finished. I think there is still a blue protective plastic coating on the glass. This thing will look amazing when they finish the glass.

For an example, look at 252 East 57th, when they removed the blue film recently.

Just as expected, this is a fugly eyesore in its graceful classical surroundings. Hopefully it'll get torn down or get a proper facade in a decade or two.

The mishmash of styles that now dominates pretty much every corner of Manhattan turned quite annoying frankly. You'll hardly come around a block -let alone district- that is somewhat harmonious and of great comprehensive aesthectics anymore.

It looks like deconstructivism (also known as new-baroque), so you should like it.

wow!! that's severe!...keep in mind that NY has five boroughs(Manhattan being the laboratory of architecture) and try not to look at it through the prism of your european sens of aesthetic. If you are looking for architectural unity,Williamsburg Brooklyn is your place!..As the "capital of the world",Big Apple has it all!
Moreover,New york is definitely not San Petersburg Russia which is imo one of the most amazing and beautiful european cities, with a remarkable harmony of style

Seriously? The glass has a film on it, and cheap concrete? The building would collapse with cheap concrete.

This tower is amazing.

Also amazing is the criticism from people posting from favelas.

I like it. It reminds me of this, but out of a big block of glass that time eroded.
