Nice find truckin. Those yellow ellispses on the top right and left of the track's map are supposed to look like the feathers of a peacock. Also from what I've gathered, the length of the track is around 5 kms which is slightly shorter than the average F1 track.

Once the track is built can it be used for indy car racing, formula 2,3 etc.

Yes all F1 tracks can be used for other races as well.

Track completion is slated for April 2011.

Renders look good but I hope they maintain quality standards. As for the track there are 16 turns which is good but i feel there are 2 very long straight sections. Maybe they should shorten one of them and add one more turn maybe a hairpin turn after the long straight stretch and then a left turn a little later merging it back to the original layout . Just a couple of things from a wandering mind.. Btw, which month is the race set to take place. Hope its only in between august and october right after monsoons and not in summer months otherwise the heat is gonna be intense. Also wat is the track length and how many laps will it be 55 -60 or more

Yes, but I highly doubt the IndyCar series will come to India when it only races outside America a couple times a year.

Not bad at all!

The design is simple with straight lines and the canopy for the stadium looks good with its wavey design.

Needs a wow factor like Bahrain and Dubai's circuit with a fancy designed hotel/signature buildings.

India track build not yet underway

Taken from the ESPN F1 website

Quote:
Construction of the circuit to host the inaugural Indian Grand Prix in 2011 has not yet begun, but work to prepare the greenfield site for building to commence is now 90% complete.

The preparatory work includes adding elevation changes to the site and installing a vast drainage network, with the entire construction project due to be completed by July next year, about three months before its first race in October 2011.

The circuit is the latest to be designed by renowned F1 architect Herman Tilke and features a total of 16 corners on its clockwise layout, with elevation changes of up to 60 feet. The circuit's buildings will be of modern western design, a departure from Tilke's usual design philosophies of tailoring the design to local traditions.

The track will be located 40km south-east of India's capital city New Delhi, and is being organised and funded by the private Jaypee Sports company. The race was originally due to appear on the calendar in 2010, but was subsequently pushed back by Bernie Ecclestone.

The addition of India to the schedule in 2011 will push the season to a record-breaking 20 events - unless another race is ditched.

I had this pic of Shanghai in mind. Apart from the issue of appeal, I also don't have any answer for why don't people attempt such bold/unconventional designs in India (for projects of this scale). If you are entering unchartered terrotory, you have to be one up in the game. Simply good is not good enough.

i second that. Our design look at par with the current average ones but we need to make it look better than the best (or atleast try). in 10-20 years this design will look 100 years old .

You either have no taste or are ignorant. What I'm trying to say is you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.

Shanghai's circuit is actually award-winning and should be held as a model to what Noida's circuit should be aiming for. Shanghai's circuit itself is challenging and has a signature hairpin turn, something I hope Noida's circuit can live up to.

Yeah, I'm hoping ours will be the best too. But first, we'll have to wait and see if they even complete the project by the 2011 deadline. Hopefully they'll also add some Indian flavor to the track.
