Short charges fill up most of the battery very quickly, so short stops may be practical.
I saw a documentary on tv about an electric car company in Silicon Valley, California. They gave some timeline about electric cars and the last few years the technique has really been developed very quickly. If they can develop more enhancements and deminish recharging times, who knows where we might end up....

Charging times of 20 minutes would be acceptable apart from extreme situations, because very few people drive for 240 miles without stopping to eat!

If 20 mins even filled up the battery to 50-75% that would be ok too.

Today I'll have a look at the gas station in Loenersloot, but they don't change the price that often. Last week it was €1,28/l for Euro 95 en 1,09/l for diesel. Let's see if they've already changed that.

Wow Loenersloot of all places

I filled up for € 1,099 per liter for diesel yesterday. That's $ 5.3 a gallon with current exchange rates. Petrol is more expensive.

Yeah, Loernersloot (English = Loenen's ditch ) is a shitty small village, but there is the only gas station I pass on my way to school. By the way, I forgot to have a look, so I'll do that monday. A good chance that it is cheaper.

My local Costco is selling 87 Regular for $2.40/gal. We had to pay $2.73/gal for 91 Premium.

It's strangely cheap though, most other gas stations, like the Shell I usually use, is selling at $2.95/gal for 87 Regular and $3.19/gal for 91 Premium

Yesterday it was time for me to refill, so I've checked out the prices on my route, from Budapest to Dunakeszi (a suburb of Budapest, ~20km away):

Shell near my home:
95 - 272,90 HUF(1,07 EUR), Diesel - 296,90 HUF (1,16 EUR)
OMW Váci rd.:
95 - 272,90 HUF (1,07 EUR), Diesel - 296,90 HUF (1,16 EUR)
MOL, Duna Plaza:
95 - 271,90 HUF (1,06 EUR), Diesel - 296,90 HUF (1,16 EUR)
OMW Outer Váci rd.:
95 - 271,90 HUF (1,06 EUR), Diesel - 296,90 HUF (1,16 EUR)
Shell, Dunakeszi Main rd.:
95 - 269,90 HUF (1,055 EUR), Diesel - 293,90 HUF (1,15 EUR)
Jet, Dunakeszi:
95 - 265,90 HUF (1,04 EUR), Diesel - 290,90 HUF (1,13 EUR) - I've refilled here
Lukoil, Dunakeszi:
95 - 265,90 HUF (1,04 EUR), Diesel - 290,90 HUF (1,13 EUR)

There are not that big differences as you can see

i didn't know that you have different prices at same stations. here in Croatia all OMV's, all INA's, all Tifons etc. have equal price. actually, INA, OMV and Petrol (and most smaller private stations) have equal prices, only Tifon is more expensive. before there was slight difference between prices at stations at tolled motorways and other stations, but now there is no difference.

Here used to be the same prices a few years ago, but then somethig changed, I don't really know what. Since then all stations have different prices. The ones near motorways are always ~10-15 HUF more expensive than the average. On the Váci rd. there are 6 filling stations within 5 kms so their prices are almost equal. Jet, Avia and Lukoil are usually cheaper than average (btw. Lukoil took over all Jet stations, and will "dress" them in Lukoil colours soon), together with the ones that belong to store chains like Tesco, Auchan and Metro.

Anyway the competition seems to be fierce since some chains leave the market and sell their stations to their opponents. At the end of the 90's Q8 and BP left the country. Few years later Aral sold their stations to OMW. 4-5 years ago Total sold the stations to Shell. Last year Castrol stations were took over by Avia, and Jet by Lukoil. This year Agip bought all Esso stations...

So the competitors are: MOL, OMW, Shell, Agip, Lukoil-Jet, Avia, the discount ones (Auchan, Tesco and Metro), and some private ones at hidden places.

well, at least you have Agip and Shell. we have stupid monopolly of INA and all we can get is except it is OMV and Petrol. ok, Lukoil is coming soon, they bought Europamill stations, but there are not many of them yet. bright point is Tifon which has really good service, although they are the most expensive, but i use them allways

In the Netherlands, gas prices aren't fixed like in some countries, but vary from station to station, also from the same brand. For example, an automated unmanned Shell gas station usually discounts 10 - 12 cents, while manned Shell's along normal streets and regional roads usually discounts a few cents and the Shell gas stations along freeways discount nothing or only a couple of cents per liter. Generally, automated stations are the cheapest, motorway gas station the most expensive.
