Here prices went down a bit again. Lowest prices since about 2 years (at least).
At my local gas station in Vienna, Austria:

Euro 95 (Super): 1,272
Diesel: 1:278

At the moment almost no reason to buy a diesel car.

except diesel cars consume less fuel than gasoline cars. Even at higher diesel prices than gas prices, diesel may still be cheaper, provided there are no other tax reasons not to buy a diesel car.

I noticed last night that E85 (flex fuel) is down to $2.39 a gallon. And diesel is $3.79 a gallon.

Taxes are higher for Diesel. Annual maintenance as well. The difference used to be 10 cents sometimes. I don't understand why Austria is a Diesel country. In the Netherlands the difference is much higher. Still I am not sure if there are more Diesel cars than in Austria.

The diesel price in the Netherlands is approximately 30 cents lower than gasoline (currently € 1.45 vs 1.75 per liter) but the high road tax and purchase tax on diesel cars result in a low share of diesel cars of approximately 15%.

Even a fairly small diesel car costs near € 100 per month in road tax, that's just absurd.
Not to mention they are also more expensive to buy due to added surcharges, there is a 45% tax on new car sales (+ 21% VAT) but the price of diesel cars is also increased by several thousand euros, which means almost 50% of the car price consists of taxes (or put it differently, taxes double the price of a car)

Poland - Silesia today:

Euro 95 - PLN 5.30 / € 1.27 liter
Euro 98 - PLN 5,57 / € 1.33 liter
Diesel - PLN 5,34 / € 1.28 liter
LPG - PLN 2.57 / € 0.61 liter

exchange rate: 1€ = 4,18 PLN

Does that encourage people to buy cars in neighbouring countries and bring them into the NL?

You still have to pay those taxes when you import the car. Importing is popular though, especially from Germany.

I'm in Oshawa, Canada just outside Toronto. Price of gas is 117.8 Canadian cents/liter at the closest place (that's about €0.84/liter, or $4.28/gallon in USD).

It probably costs $8-10 more to fill up here than at home.

Just filled the tank in San Benedetto del Tronto (AP), Italy.

E95: 1,629€/liter
Diesel: 1,429€/liter
Methane: 1,000€/kg

Those are outstanding prices. I haven't seen such prices for (at least) 5/6 years.

Well gents we gassed up the car today and our cost was $2.73 a gallon for unleaded plus which is a 10% ethanol blend. Other blends of gas now cost .10 to 30+ cents a gallon because of the way they are now formulated.

http://cbs2iowa.com/news/features/to...es-23319.shtml

We used our...
Hy-Vee Fuel Saver

fuel discount card. We saved .10 cents a gallon. Of course the normal price is $2.83 a gallon.

Why is there a higher road tax on diesel, given it is better for carbon emissions? (Albeit worse for air quality). My petrol Smart car in the UK only costs £30 (€35) in road tax per year and the diesel Smart car pays no tax at all. Although diesel is more expensive than petrol in the UK.

The Dutch still seem to buy a lot of new cars though! Don't you save a lot of money by buying a nearly new car?
