In Montreal I'm annoyed - when oil went to $100/bbl the price of gasoline was about $1.00/litre

Now oil is like $65/bbl but gasoline price - $1.279!

When oil hit $100/bbl, gas prices in California were hovering around $4/gal. Yesterday, I filled up at my local Valero station for $2.799/gal.

Yes, but the Canadian dollar has fallen at a near 5 year low against the US dollar. So the drop in oil prices isn't as great as it could be.

Also has there have been any tax hikes lately?

Oh yes, quite a few... at least... about 10 cents plus 2%. But still... it's annoying. One of the two refineries in Montreal also closed down recently, I think it has played some role.

What will be the effect of reducing gas taxes to Texas levels? The low countries will become one big suburb?

Yesterday unleaded plus dropped to $2.49 a gallon at the Sinclair station one block from my home. However the price was quickly re-adjusted up to $2.51 a gallon.

The lowest price in our area is $2.46 a gallon. The highest is $2.73 according to GasBuddy.com.

First movement in Philadelphia (or at least my little corner of it) in about three weeks yesterday: down four cents to $2.899.

The $2.09s are more pertinent: doesn't look as if they're all clustered together (geographically speaking), so that's probably the going rate of the moment in that area.

$1.249 CAD per litre in Montreal, Canada

Also, provincial government has announced that gasoline will have to pay "carbon tax". So estimated increase in fuel price by 2 cents / L (just like 2008-time when gas price went down)

We have British Petroleum gas stations in eastern Iowa. Yester day I filled my car for $2.45 a gallon.

I noticed that BP now has regular unleaded for $2.45. Unleaded plus for $2.77 a gallon. both now are 10% ethanol blend fuel. I wonder when that started? I must have missed that.

I always purchase the lowest price available.

Don't take this the wrong way - I mean, to each their own - but I haven't bought BP since the Gulf spill a few years back (except once at an Indiana Toll Road service area where I didn't want to wait until I plunged into Chicago and BP is what there was). I have noticed that in New Jersey they're often a bit cheaper than other stations, and I wonder if it's because of that.
