My former car was a 2011 Hyundai i10 with the 1.25L engine. They said that the 1.1 L was sold in nearly all i10s, and that the 1.25L was rare, but had better performance and fuel consumption.

My car averages around 56mpg (UK gallons) which is 47mpg (US gallons) or 5.0 litres per 100km.

My return trip to work and back is almost exactly 100km so it's costing £5/€6.50/$7.25 per day in fuel at the moment.

Mountainous motorway, though.

On level terrain it consumed about 6.5 L/100km.

In urban driving, it did something like 8L/100km.

Hell of a car.
1) Not MY 2011; 2) There are some things installed in the cigarette lighter I think, and these are said to reduce fuel consumption like by 40%. How come I don't know, but it works. A friend of mine in Ukraine had a car that „ate” average 10l/100km. After installing that thing he had 6.9-7.2 average. Maybe you just don't have one. The one he installed is called "FuelShark"

Thanks for the info, didn't know about it.

Now I don't have that i10 any more though. I've got a 2014 Passat 1.8 TSI.

I heard about this kind of devices. They're a scam. Even at Mythbusters if I remember correctly they proved that this devices do not work.

Years ago here in the US there was an expose show, I forget which one, that proved that ALL of the gas mileage gadgets were a fraud.

Today I fueled up my Camry and paid only $1.48 a gallon. ..I used my fuel saver + perks card from Hy-Vee. Hy-Vee is a supermarket chain here in the Midwestern United States in Iowa, Illinois, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, South Dakota and Wisconsin.

My Camry usually gets about 25-27 MPG. On long trips it gets about 32 MPG.

The average fuel consumption on that trip was 5.1 L / 100 km, which is about 20 km per liter, 47 miles per gallon (US) or 56 miles per gallon (UK). When going 80 km/h in 5th gear with cruise control engaged the consumption was near 4 L / 100 km (25 km per liter or 59 mpg).
I have to figure out what sort of mileage I got on my European trip last July. All I know is I spent way less on fuel than I expected.

Down to $1.61/gal here, which is €0.393/l.

I saw it mentioned once, but before it bottomed out. Last weekend, a price war between a couple gas stations in Houghton Lake, Michigan, brought prices at one station down to $0.47/gal, which is €0.113/l.

Super 95: 1.278 EUR
Super 98: 1.336 EUR

Heating Oil: 0.3901 EUR

Belgium - Lanaken (Van Raak)
Super 95: 1.135 EUR
Super 98: 1.253 EUR
Diesel: 0.908 EUR

--> Interesting follow-up on the gas station Tioil in Ljubuški, Bosnia and Herzegovina (I posted the price about 10 days ago): the pricing of petroleum derivatives in BiH is very complicated; although the government doesn't set ceiling prices, every price hike/drop request must be sent to the federal department of commerce, which usually takes 3 days to approve the request. The prices at the Tioil gas station were originally 1.51 BAM (0.772 EUR) for a liter of unleaded and 1.46 BAM (0.746 EUR) for diesel. This company wanted to maintain prices 0.05 BAM (0.026 EUR) below the others. However newly opened gas stations began lowering the prices as well, leading to an (unauthorized) price war. Diesel went as low as 1.26 BAM (0.644 EUR), before the inspectors from the department determined that the regulations had been violated and the price must go back to the original and can only be lowered again one day after the approval of the request for price corrections. Nonetheless, these prices remain among the lowest in the country and the region.

Bulgaria - Average Prices

Bulgaria - Varna (Lukoil - lower prices due to much stiffer competition)
Eurosuper 95: 1.66 BGN (0.849 EUR)
Eurosuper 95+: 1.88 BGN (0.961 EUR)
Eurosuper 98+: 1.93 BGN (0.987 EUR)
