I know.. I got a speeding ticket in Arizona for going 62mph in a 55mph zone.

Now-a-days most states I visit speed limits are 70mph, Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin & Minnesota..so I keep it under 75mph.

Speed limits vary in the US.

Could you be so kind next time and translate it to metric? For us, Europeans, the imperial scale is like the Chinese language. Says nothing. I know that you in the US basically think imperial, and maybe even the metric scale is Chinese for you like imperial is for us - but you are rather an exception... Please... Whenever I see something expressed in the imperial units, I really have no idea how much it is...

I made this effort, so if anyone else is wondering what those speed limits actually mean...
60 mph = 95 km/h (I approximate it to 5 km/h)
65 mph = 105 km/h
70 mph = 115 km/h
75 mph = 120 km/h
80 mph = 130 km/h
85 mph = 135 km/h

When you drive in UK a vehicle with speedo in km/h, you learn km/h <> mph by heart in a few weeks.

A few times I rented a car in Dublin, Republic of Ireland (Irish speeds are shown in km/h) and then I drove to Northern Ireland (part ok UK where speeds are shown in mph). It happened a few times that the car had dual km/h and mph speedometer, but I also got a few cars only with km/h speedometer, so I had to know the conversion.

Sorry about that. Here in the US we are still in the stone age of measurements.....and will remain so for the foreseeable future.

Oh.. gas is ranging in price in my town Cedar Rapids IA...from a low of $2.26 a gallon up to $2.39 a gallon.

$2.26 / US gallon =
0.50 Euros / liter

$2.39 / US gallon =
0.53 Euros / liter

I wish there was more of a known "tolerance / penalty" for tourists... some areas are really crazy about speed traps and some states are really crazy about speeding fines (e.g. New York "driver responsibility fee" or Virginia "over 80 mph is reckless driving" even when speed limit 70...)

I remember driving I-355 in Chicagoland, posted speed limit 55 but everyone going about 80-85. I was somewhat worried initially but... gave up and kept up the pace too. The road is of excellent quality so I don't know the reasoning behind the limit aside from screwing people (the I-80 Tollway running up to it is posted 70 and everyone is driving 80 too...)

But drive say, I-87 around Albany, NY, posted speed limit 55 and everyone is going less than 60, and Troopers all over. They catch a lot of unsuspecting tourists on the NYC-Montreal route...
It's particularly unusual since get into the NYC metro area and everyone drives 85 mph again with posted 65's and 55's

Paris doesn't have typical gas stations, they operate on the side of the street and charge astronomical prices. This Avia has Euro 95 for € 1.90 per liter. That's $ 8.44 per gallon. In most of France you can expect to pay € 1.30 - 1.50 per liter, depending on location.

Interesting. In Poland, the gas stations in big cities tend to be cheaper than out of them because of bigger competition.

It's the same in Turin. Near my apartments there are two of them, I never went to either of them because they are too expensive.
As a a matter of fact, I went to one once - the one directly on the other side of the street with respect to my apartment - because I was lured in by the decent prices exposed on the panel. Thing is, that was applied only to the owners of their fidelity card. To all others - written in very small font on the panel - the price was significantly higher.
Never again.

We Just drove from Cedar Rapids IA To San Diego CA a distance of 1800 miles or 2897km.

The average price for gas was about $2.50 a gallon. The highest we saw was in the California desert about 20(32km) miles north of Barstow . Priced at $4.79 a gallon!

$2.50 / US gallon =
0.569017474 Euros / liter

$4.79 / US gallon =
1.09023748 Euros / liter

Here in San Diego looks like the fuel is priced at $2.99 a gallon.

$2.99 / US gallon =
0.680544899 Euros / liter

I'm back in Iowa from my vacation. We drove a total of about 4600 miles(7400km) in about 34 days. We made two trips to the LA area while in San Diego plus driving around San Diego. In San Diego gas is about;

$3.30 / US gallon =
0.739243577 Euros / liter

In San Diego on military bases gas was ;
$2.89 / US gallon =
0.647398163 Euros / liter

Here in Cedar Rapids I fueled up today for;

$2.28 / US gallon =
0.510750108 Euros / liter

As we drove across the USA from California to Iowa (1800 miles or 2900km) I'm guessing the average price for fuel is about;

$2.39 / US gallon =
0.53539156 Euros / liter

Fuel prices are up today in Algeria from 12 to 17 %

41,62 DA /L 95 = 0,30 EUR

23,06 /L Diesel = 0,17 EUR

09,00 /L GLP = 0,07 EUR

So it's cheaper to buy half a tank of fuel than a cup of coffee in a bar in Europe

Prices of fuel are going up in Bosnia and Herzegovina from 1st February after the parliament voted for rise on toll on fuel in order to secure financing of future highway and expressway projects (but also other roads). The rise is 0,0767 € but don't forget 17% VAT on that which means and effective rise of 0,09€ per litre. This will mean the fuel will cost around 1,07 € per litre if the price on global market stays the same as it is now, while you would still be able to find diesel for just under 1 € per litre (0,99 €).

This means on a yearly basis an additional minimum 70 million € to the companies responsible for highways on top of their current financial performance.

I went yesterday to the petrol station and paid 1.20/liter for Diesel. I thought they had increased the price for the holiday so I did not fill up, but actually it was 1.23 this morning at the same place
Diesel was sub-1 not that long ago
