[quote=isaidso;29141638] That's too bad. Water is renewable, oil isn't. It's absurd that oil would be cheaper than water.

Toronto: 77 cents/litre[/quote
Water is expansive in the western world!

Well it is! In Egypt gas is USD$0.18 a litre

A 1 liter bottle of mineral water is USD$ $0.50 its

Generally commodities in Egypt and the Middle East are wayyy cheaper than in the west.

Where did you get those prices? They are at least 20 cents higher at the cheapest stations. (except LPG)

Around $2.11/gal (€0.428/liter) here.

And to think, about six months ago, I actually paid $4.49/gal (€0.91/liter).

Wait a moment. There's something wrong here.
Where on earth do you pay 100€ a liter of gasoline?

No more cheaper fuel here. Bastards will start raising excise. 60% of our fuel price is excise.

In the Netherlands; excise is 70 cents for Euro 95. On top of that is VAT (sales tax) which is 19%. You also pay VAT over excise. About € 0.95 of € 1,25 is tax in total at the moment.

For the first time in several years 95 unleaded is widely available for under 10 SEK in Sweden.

95: 9,94 SEK (€0,935)
98: 10,24 SEK (€0,963)
Diesel: 10,69 SEK (€1,005)

Concerning how much of the price that's made up of taxes we have two fixed taxes. First we have energy taxes of 2,90 SEK, and then CO2 taxes making up 2,16 SEK of the price. These are added to the retail price of gas, and then there's a 25 percent VAT on top of all of that.

So counting backwards we find that the Swedish retail price for 95 unleaded currently stands at 2,90 SEK (€0,273)/litre.
