No profit whatsoever...gasoline is heavily subsidized....for good or for bad....it has been like that for many decades now. For example, we had pretty bad riots in 1989 when a governement tried to increase fuel prices...it ended costing the president his job...

Here for example is a news report about smuggling activities where venezuelan fuel is taken out of the country illegaly so as to sell it in towns just across border:

So these gas stations are run by the government or by a government-owned company? Figures, considering the Venezuelan government's policies.

Decades old policies. These fuel price policies existed even before the guys running the current government were born. And yes, PDV is a chain owned by PDVSA - the State oil company. A Cº which also existed before the current government got into power. But it doesn´t make any difference whether is State-runned or private-owned. It is just stablished fuel prices overall as a legal norm..any company can sell it at such cheap prices: BP, Texaco, etc...

Here is a BP station in Venezuela selling cheap gasoline too -amateur video:

To encourage people to take road trips through there, I guess? Boring state. (with the one exception of Yellowstone and surroundings)

Wyoming has less inhabitants then any other US state. Still I wouldn't nominate it as "the most useless US state".

Today I saw a Shell station (off-motorway) selling:

Euro 95 at €1,10/L
Diesel at €0,86/L
LPG at €0,37/L

Hmm, the most useless US State... Delaware comes to mind. Could as well have been a part of Maryland and Pennsylvania. Otherwise, I'm not sure if the divide between North and South Dakota is that much needed.

Official gas prices hit below € 1,20 for a long time, at € 1,198. I wonder if they drop even more next week.

I'd nominate:
- Rhode Island
- Maine
- Oklahoma
- Delaware
- North Dakota

Most useless German Bundesland:
- Mecklenburg-Vorpommern
- Thuringen

Most useless Dutch province:
- Flevoland
- Drenthe

But we're getting OT.

How much as a barrel of oil now?

Hey, my family pretty much created Rhode Island.

Are your taxes going up? I think we'll be seeing our gasoline going above 10 SEK since gasoline tax goes up on Jan 1 (increase to match inflation).

I also just fueled up at the local Shell Express. It was € 0,889 per liter. ($ 4.5 per gallon). I drove 300 kilometers of only drives of 4 km or less (I'm moving at the moment), and that's not really good for your mileage; 1:13 or 31 mpg. I can usually get between 43 and 48 mpg.

The Swedish crown has just dropped to another all-time low against the euro, so that 9,74 SEK for a litre of 95 translates into €0,866! In Sweden!

Strange, I saw it in the news for some days ago that SEK was worth 1,39 DKK in ´80. and today the other way around 0,55 or so.
