Diesel is better.. € 0,89 last time. Strange that NL has one of the most expensive gasoline in the world, but one of the cheapest diesel in western Europe. Well, the cheaper diesel price here is compensated by a 3 - 4 times higher road tax, so you need to drive quite some kilometers before diesel is less expensive than gasoline.

Gas (87 octane, 91-92 RON): $1.99 / g (€0.41 / l)
Diesel: $1.89 / g (€0.39 / l)

Diesel has been a bit cheaper than gas for the last week or two or so. The last time I saw diesel cheaper was probably four or five years ago.

Gdynia, Poland, Neste self-service station

95 - 3,69PLN, which means less than 1€ (1€ = 4,48PLN, I'm weak from maths )

This is along the motorway, so it's even more expensive.

Loenersloot is much cheaper:
Euro 95: €1,23/L
Diesel: €0,92/L

I Always fill up at the unmanned Shell Express station, they're the cheapest in NL usually. Most motorway gas stations are equally expensive, usually near or at the nationwide average official price.

I know that, it is the same in the DK. The most expansive gasstations in the DK are: Q8, Shell,Statoil these are manned gasstations..I don´t think we have unmanned gasstaions of these companies in DK....maybe a very few(Shell) in Jutland.

Firezone, these unmanned stations are among the cheapest in NL, usually discounting around € 0,10.

Aren't you afraid of filling up on no-name petrol stations?

No, but strangely enough, Belgians are also afraid because they say it's a lower quality fuel. That's not the case in the Netherlands, but I tend to think this "lower quality fuel" is pretty much a rumour brought up by the major oil companies, afraid of losing their customers to the cheaper no-name gas stations. But I'm not sure about that. In foreign countries, I always gas up at a major brand, just to be sure.

I heard some poorer countries of Europe (like Albania, Moldova, Romania etc.) sometimes add water to the fuel to make more money.

Adding water would be quite unfeasible as it does not mix with petrol

Adding some compounds to petrol on cheaper stations in common also here, which is harmful especially to older TDI engines.
