It's the government who puts so many taxes on it, because they believe that we should all drive a less environmental-friendly cars. Probably because of our previous prime-ministers greeat friendsip with GW Bush.

Here in India,
we have about 45 Rs (a little less than $1) per litre of Petrol, 65 cents a litre for Diesel.

And we still think it's very expensive.

A U.S. update...prices have risen about 20-25 cents a gallon the past few weeks.

Where I am, in the Rocky Mountain region, we are paying about 2.41-2.45 per gallon. The west coast, (CA, WA, OR) is higher, averaging 2.65-2.85 per gallon.

The price of unleaded here in the UK is almost back up to a pound again, Ł0.989 at my local Tesco supermarket. That's €1.13 per litre or $5.96 per US gallon

I thought the UK was always so expensive? Or is it due to exchange rates? NL unleaded (Euro 95) is at € 1,47 that's 34 cents more expensive than in the UK.

Yesterday 1 liter of Diesel cost 1,1 EUR and 95 Unleaded for 1,35 EUR here in Norway (Moss).

Do somebody know the prices for fuel in Serbia?

Could be, but most of the "experts" are predicting prices to level off for the rest of the summer. Of course, anything can, and will happen.

Prices might increase because of the so-called "summer driving". People drive more = more demand = higher prices. It might indeed level off after August.

Exchange rates. When Ł1 bought €1.45 we were always among the 2 or 3 most expensive European countries for petrol, now Ł1 only buys €1.15, we're much cheaper in € terms, although it doesn't make any difference for us, only foreign visitors

Prices in Bonn, Germany

At Shell, we have to pay €1.359 per liter for unleaded 95 RON (about $7.25 per gallon). Diesel sells for €1.109 ($5.92).

Prices went up very fast over the last weeks. Gasoline is as high as in October right now.

Even the cheap stations now are at or above $3/gal in southern California. California gas is the most expensive in the US now, even above Hawaii.
