There is somewhat more tax on diesel than gasoline in the United States.

Though I think diesel was also more expensive than gasoline in Switzerland.

Currently it is the case in Hungary, although difference is not too much, 2-5 forints in favor of Super95.

Taken a couple days ago; gas prices just went up today because it's Saturday, so it's probably higher now.

Basically $4.80 for diesel, only 20 cents away from five dollars a gallon

I just calculated that a nice long tour from Germany thru the Ardennes of Belgium and Luxembourg, some 650km,would cost me around 60euros no wonder that the motorcycling industry is complaining about that nobody wants to drive anymore, how to hell to have a hobby like that when the prices for fual are so high

New fuel price records in the Netherlands:

Eur/l and USD/gallon

Euro 95: € 1,730 / $ 9.40
Euro 98: € 1,799 / $ 9.78
Diesel: € 1,425 / $ 7.73
LPG: € 0,818 / $ 4.43

Nobody seems to care about it though, traffic volumes are at record levels and there is no fuss about it in the media at all.

Wow. Near 10 a gallon and no dent in traffic or fuss. Everybody fusses around here about a 10 cent raise. It's still below 4 dollars a gallon here for regular, everywhere except the Chevron at the airport, the one I post here all the time.

Diesel is taxed relatively low in the Netherlands, while gasoline is the opposite. However, the road tax for diesel motor vehicles significantly higher, so only some 15% of the Dutch passenger cars are diesel-powered...

I guess, I will not consider driving less until it's at least 2€ per liter though, and won't consider other transport for commuting to work until it's at least 4€ per liter. Some people may be scared by the fuel prices, I am not, not yet anyhow. Of course I want it to be as cheap as possible though, I want the quarter of Kok back :P. But they won't stop me from firing up my 6 cylinders for a long time .

I saw a gas station asking for $4.03 (~€0.74/liter) today. First time I saw gas that high since 2008.

At this rate, we will be seeing new highs by summer. The highest I ever saw here was $4.60 so we still have some time to go.
