Highways & Motorways in Kosovo
I thought we must start a thread about road infrastructure in Kosovo, because Kosovo is de facto an independent country even if it's not fully recognized.it seems from the article that roads are improving there and the first motorway from pristina to albania will become reality in a few years. So if u have any pictures or informations about road infrastructure in Kosovo, u are welcomed to post here
![]() PRISTINA, August 21 (SeeNews) - Newly independent Kosovo has launched a 33 million euro ($48.46 million) project for the reconstruction of the road linking its sole international airport with the capital Pristina, Kosovo's Transport Ministry said on Thursday. The reconstruction works on 20 kilometres of the road, funded from the government budget, are planned to be completed in December, the ministry said in a statement. The 20 kilometre section is part of the road linking Prishtina with the Kosovo-Montenegro border. Kosovo government hopes to turn the existing two-way road into a motorway by the end of 2010. Kosovo, where 90% of the population is ethnic Albanian, declared its secession from Serbia on February 17, after almost nine years under the administration of the United Nations. Serbia, backed by its historical ally Russia, says it would never recognise Kosovo as an independent state. More than 40 countries have recognised Kosovo’s independence. Poor transport infrastructure is one of the obstacles Kosovo faces to become a viable economy. After the 1999 war most of the roads were destroyed. Kosovo has already rebuilt most of its existing roads, thanks to donations by the World Bank and the EU, but there are still no motorways built. |

I allow this topic to exist right now. If things get out of hand or it turns into a Kosovo/Serbia discussion, I'll close it or take other actions.

Are there motorways planned within the territory of Kosovo? I remember the Albanians building a motorway towards Kosovo.

Thanks for oppening this thread.
Just wanted to add that, before the elections, the now government had made development of infrastructure one of their top priorities. So far they have kept their word. Here are some pictures of some of the newst developments: Prishtine - Fushë Kosove ![]() ![]()

the road infrastructure seem to be developing in kosovo, and that's very good news.as for political disputes, they should be over, because sooner or later we will all be citizens of the same big country, european union.however if smbd wants to argue about the political status of kosovo, he may find another forum, i'm sure there are plenty of them.

Since the 2 lanes on the far right are for local traffic only, i think its just an indication of where you can enter those 2 lanes. I know its a little bit confusing, because you would have to slow down to get on those 2 lanes, and that could cause accidents. But since this is just in the outskirts of Prishtina, speed limit in that area is low, it works out well.

There is no need for that kind of attitude.
I did not offend you, so I don't see the reason why would you do that to me. Let's keep this civilized and on-topic.
