Article 5 of the Constitution of Kosovo provides for two official languages (with equal status). Leaving the thread title in English only has the great advantage of avoiding sensitive political issues. Some people would be offended if either or both of the official languages were to be included. I don't think anyone in Kosovo is really offended by English.

Who would be "offended" by the inclusion of Kosovo's official languages in the title? In any case, let's keep it English-only for some time too, just not to rile up the trolls.

A couple of fresh videos from the first 38km of the motorway, shot this past weekend, 28.10.2011

The interchange here is in Nashec, Prizren

While this video is close to Vermice, by the border with Albania

Thanks for those superb videos! Can you tell me the design of the overhead-sign, which you're able to see in the second video from behind?

I've found two pictures from the albanian sub-forum on SSC

Interesting mixture: Green for motorway signs and white are those which are leading to national roads.

Prizren-jug only in Serbian and not Albanian? That surprises me.

Actually Prizren - Gjalovė - Pejė is categorized as a regional road, therefore sign for Gjakovė is white.

Jug = south is the same word in both languages (albanian and serbian). I think in serbian it's "juzno", but the serbs also use "jug" or at least the Kosovo-Serbs do.

Prizren-Gjakove-Peje has blue signs so it should be a national road as Prishtina-Peja for example?!

I'm not happy with the signs.... Shame they went for a Yugo style. I hope they change to blue background in the future and green for expressways.

I think Croatian styled signs are are a good choice. They are clear and visible, more so than Italian signs I would say.

Ah, interesting, I never knew that. Thanks for explaining! Juzno=southern BTW, so it's logical that 'jug' has been used here.

Why shame? Probaby it was the best way of signing (and I agree with that: Very clear signs, font, etc). Kosovo now uses much better signage than Albania on motorways

You did spot a blue sign but that was for the road I was driving on, which was a regional road connecting two villages in Prizren and isn't part of the motorway.

I don't think that Prizren-Gjakove-Peje has blue signs. http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showpo...postcount=2163

National roads in Kosovo are M-roads, and regional roads are R-roads. Prishtina - Peja is national road (M9) while Prizren - Gjakove - Peja is regional road (R107). http://www.rruga.org/harta/index.php

As far as I know, official languages in Kosovo are Albanian and Serbian. English is used on forums, I don't know what's so strange about that...
