Doboj-Prnjavor section should be completely under asphalt till the end of this year, opening to traffic is expected in next summer (haven´t heard any exact date). At present more than 80% of all works are finished, 25km are under asphalt.

Prnjavor-Banja Luka (Mahovljani interchange) 30km groundworks are finished, they try to finish as much as possible groundworks before winter, the goal is to finish all groundworks which are in flat terrain this year.

Delays weren´t mentioned in the reports.

On behalf of Chinese who have commissioned the study, Belgrade Traffic Institute (CIP) has begun counting vehicles and polling drivers along the potential path of future Banja Luka-Prijedor-Novi Grad motorway.

Previously, Serb Republic government signed a prelim. agreement with China's Shandgong Group
for the ~350 million euro, ~80km long motorway section.

Construction of the bridge at the Drina between Ljubovija and Bratunac has started today and the works total EUR 12 m.

For the bridge construction, Serbia set aside EUR 4,5 m, Bosnia and Herzegovina EUR 7 m for border crossing while access roads are funded by Putevi Republike Srpske with EUR 400.000.

The prime minister of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic and president of the Republic of Srpska, Milorad Dodik and ministries of construction of Serbia and RS, Zorana Mihajlovic and Nedjo Trninic attended the start of works ceremony.

Vucic said that the bridge which has a symbolic value since it connects people and countries will be opened in a year.

Concrete bridge will be 227 m high and 13.90 m long, it will have seven ranges and eight pillars.

The consortium for works is headed by Belgrade-based Ratko Mitrovic, The project implies a mutual border crossing, six lanes for passenger cars, buses and trucks as well as mutual terminal with four traffic lanes for passenger and bus traffic and two for trucks.

Protocol on construction of the bridge at the Drina which the governments of Serbia and RS signed in 2013 implies that Serbia funds construction of access roads on its side.

Three posts merged into one; 20 pictures... Pics are from couple days ago.

In this map, you can see, roughly, where are this works, between start and final points. Map isn't precise, but it's useful, I believe. Final point are, in fact, couple mm below presented on the map. Presented trajectory simply ignore.

Sinohydro study paves way for Chinese loan for Bosnian motorway - report
Nov 4, 2015 17:11 CET

Quote:

BANJA LUKA (Bosnia and Herzegovina), November 4 (SeeNews) - Chinese company Sinohydro has prepared and submitted research documents including a feasibility study necessary for the final negotiations on a loan agreement with China's Ex-Im Bank for the construction of the Glamocani-Put AVNOJ section of the Banja Luka–Mliniste motorway, local media reported on Wednesday.

Sinohydro signed in December a preliminary agreement with state-owned motorway operator JP Autoputevi RS on the design and construction of the Glamocani-Mlinista motorway, news daily Nezavisne reported.

A commercial agreement with the contractor Sinohydro must be signed before the Serb Republic's finance ministry can submit an official request for a loan with Ex-Im Bank, Nezavisne said, quoting JP Autoputevi RS.

JP Autoputevi added that the contract will be signed as soon as the entity's government grants its permission, but it will come into effect once the loan with Ex-Im has been concluded.

The deal should cover works on the section Glamocani-Put Avnoj which is 62 km, while the total length of the Glamocani-Mlinista motorway is 93 km.

In June, the Serb Republic's transport ministry said China's Ex-Im Bank has expressed its support for the construction of the Banja Luka-Mlinista motorway and other infrastructure projects in the entity.

The Serb Republic is one of two autonomous entities forming Bosnia and Herzegovina. The other is the Muslim-Croat Federation.

That would be the blue section on this map:

That would be the blue section on this map:

What a waste of money!! BiH should focus on the main corridors, not on connecting the 2nd largest city of the country with the mountains via a superfluous motorway. Rather than building a motorway to Split (which both Croatia and the Federation probably do not even consider relevant) all efforts should be on finishing A1, especially Sarajevo - Mostar - Počitelj and Zenica-HR border (Odžak). Then, with the finished Banja Luka-Doboj motorway, it will be possible to get to Southern Dalmatia on a motorway even from Banja Luka, without having to waste millions extra.

A Motorway to nowhere to be paid for by the taxpayer for the next 40 years. As a half profile it may have some merit but not as a 2+2.

They are speaking of 62 km, I guess that's the section to Mrkonjić Grad and the other 30 km are the remaining part to Mliniste (I don't know where that "Put Avnoj" is)?

I don't know how dense the traffic from Mrkonjić Grad to Banja Luka is - never driven there - but perhaps it will also attract current traffic from Jalce to Banja Luka. And if the Federation builds the expressway from A1 (Lasva) to Donji Vakuf, then perhaps it would be a good alternative.

It could be an interesting corridor Zagreb - Banja Luka - Split. Probably also shorter then the existing one though Karlovac. What is the situation on the bridge over Sava near Gradiška?

"Put AVNOJ-a" is E761, actually. And, yes, those cca 60km is section to Mrkonjić Grad (village Podbrdo, near Mrkonjić Grad). Starting point are village Glamočani, in Laktaši municipality.

Construction of Sava bridge to start in mid-2015?
February 17, 2014
TheSrpskaTimes
The construction of the bridge on the Sava river near Gradiska will not begin until mid-2015, said the Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications of Srpska, Nedeljko Cubrilovic.

He added that Croatia turned a “deaf ear” on Srpska’s pleas for constructions to start and that they are still waiting on money promised by the EU.

Republika Srpska has secured the needed funds, said Cubrilovic, adding that everything is ready; all that is missing is good will on behalf of the Croatian’s.

The bridge on the Sava river near Gradiska will connect the Banjaluka-Gradiska highway in Republika Srpska with the Zagreb-Belgrade highway in Croatia.

The estimated cost of the bridge and access roads is 50 million EUR.

Bosanska Gradiska: Construction of the Bridge of a Great Importance for B&H starting soon
AUGUST 31, 2015 7:45 AM
The news that the European Union, at the Summit in Vienna for infrastructural projects in B&H, approved funding for the bridge on Sava, especially delighted the citizens of Bosanska Gradiska.

They said that the construction of the bridge and the final relocation of the border crossing from the center of the city would remove the everyday traffic jams, given that this is one of the most frequent crossings in B&H and that has a status of BIP, i.e. crossing with all necessary inspection controls for the traffic of all goods.

Vladan Radonjic, who lives near the customs terminal, said that it is an impossible mission for him to drive the car, because lines of truck are parked in all surrounding streets, often at the sidewalks as well, thus he hardly can access to his backyard.

“Border crossing that is located in the center of the city is one of the great infrastructural problems of our city. It is hard to pass through street around the customs terminal, people need to scrape between trucks, which are often parked at sidewalks as well, and the biggest crowd is on weekends and during summer holidays“, said Radonjic.

Given that the construction on the bridge on Sava River was in doubt for many years, the construction of the new border crossing started few months ago, i.e. the customs terminals in the settlement Catrnja near Gradiska, whose putting into operation will relocate the existing customs terminal outside the city area.

According to the words of Ratko Kovacevic, the spokesperson of the Indirect Taxation Authority, realization of the first phase of the construction of the new border crossing is in progress and it includes the complete civil engineering, installment of hydro and electro installations and the construction of foundations and porch.

“The first phase of the construction of the border crossing, i.e. the customs terminal, should be finished in the middle of November, and will cost around 8 million BAM. After that follows the implementation of the tender procedure for the election of contractors at the construction of the second phase for which the ITA (Indirect Taxation Authority) will allocate around 15 million BAM“, said Kovacevic.

BiH have two entities, inside herself, and those entities are have independence in infrastructure, as you probably know. Corridor 5c is important for Federation BiH, not for Republic of Srpska. That Corridor is less than 50km in RS.

Also, western part of BiH lacking in modern highways, and somewhere we simply have to start building modern infrastructure. This highway, and highway (or expressway) between Lašva and Bihać will change situation in western Bosnia significantly.

And, I forgot, Federation of BiH (FBiH), with their Canton 10, planing an expressway from border with RS (in Mliništa) to their border with Croatia. For now, Croats aren't interested for building missing cca 20km to Čaporice.

Also, text from Slobodna Dalmacija (newspaper from Split, Croatia; nice map there!) @by GoogleTranslate:

Dodik's big plans
Highway Banja Luka - Split "kill" will Dalmatina

Highway Banja Luka - Split, hot desire of the Republic of Serbian, again placed on the agenda. Determined presentation directed by "Serbian Republic of Highways" was aimed to create an impression that the complicated, long-term project is about to leave. Presented is a strong partner with a Chinese hinterland powerful "Exim" bank. Our ideas, your steam. Buckle up, here we go.

Full profile conceived long highway 186 kilometers would be undoubtedly a good impetus to the development of passive end in the neighboring country, quick access to the sea and the revival of traditional familiarity of the economy of this part of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the port of Split. Croats in the Federation is interesting because it provides a faster and cheaper way to Zagreb.
It is not forbidden to dream

The same arguments are valid and in 2008 when the highway was promoted, with other contractors and financiers. Announced that the first cars to be able to start in 2015. Today we talk about that, ideally, all could be realized by 2026.

What is the starting point? In the Republic of Serbian, through which 100 kilometers of road, so only the first small step in the improvement of spatial planning documentation, while in the Federation have not yet defined any route for its 65 kilometers. Two of the options Glamoc-Livno and Kupres-Livno. The total cost of 165 kilometers of almost 2.5 billion euros.

It's nice to hear harmony in this business a very long shot, with a big "if", but this is not just an internal issue of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Something wonders and Croatia. Six years ago, a pest Government publicly supported the idea, today, in the new circumstances, set up in the role of a silent observer. It is no longer time for large projects of questionable effectiveness. For us, the construction of new motorways, more or less finished the story, and the connection Banja Luka - Split is not possible if we do not build up stocks of the node "Čaporice" to the border with a total length 22 km.

Even to find an investor / concessionaire for the relatively short but demanding section, the question of purpose. A joint project of all partners must bring positive effects, and Croatia must seriously take into account that does not work in favor of their own damage. For the time from Split to Zagreb shortened to for forty kilometers, so the outflow of traffic from expensive Dalmatine be considered. And sensible. Of course, with that painful - a significant decline in revenue.

It would be unfortunate effect on public finances in the case of monetization for the feasibility study, the Croatian government will future concessionaire will have investment risk reduced to a minimum and guarantee fee income in the event of falling turnover. Surely we have enough experience with "Strabag", concessionaire Motorway and almost colonial relationship with the company "Bina-Istra". Do we need another, much more drastic case is Dalmatino?

But the chances are that the current, or even the next few government will not so easy to be tempted to go in demanding investment. If the bridge across the Sava near Stara Gradiska, worth 50 million euros, which has a building permit, for years we are waiting for EU money, why would I have thought about ten times more expensive link with Bosnia and Herzegovina in the south of the country, before their work finished neighbors. It is clear, therefore, that the announced project will remain only a dream of Banja and what to say, Milorad Dodik - no one is forbidden to dream.

The EU should pay in full for the Gradiska bridge and tie ins north and south of the river. That is an essential motorway project.
