Why does this "Republic" even get to have its own thread? Every other country in the world gets one thread in this subforum, only this wanna-be state gets special treatment. I thought politics had no place here!!

Thank you for this discussion, now you have invited every Balkan troll to destroy this thread.
However I do agree Motorways should be changed into Road infrastructure, like for every other thread.

Trebinje and Dubrovnik to be connected with modern Border Crossings?

The hours-long waiting on the border will become past. As of next season, Trebinje and Dubrovnik will be connected with modern border crossings with several lanes, and probably open for trade traffic. This was announced by the Indirect Taxation Authority, which provided two million BAM and all conditions for construction of a border crossing on Ivanica.

“There will be several lanes for entrance and exit, with all necessary premises for officials of the Border Police and other inspection services. The border crossing will be entirely compliant with the standards of the European Union,” explained the spokesman of the ITA Ratko Kovačević.

No definitely, Brčko is a small region, there is already a thread about Bosnia and Herzegovina road infrastructure.

You know how they say, better late then never .... while in both Serbia and Montenegro, Chinese firms are already rapidly carrying out major motorway construction projects, Serb Republic has only just now agreed its first project with Chinese parties...it concerns the domestic segment of the future Banja Luka - Split motorway:

Don't know what to make of it, one would assume the Banja Luka - Prijedor direction would be of a higher priority.

Highway Gradiška – Banja Luka – Doboj to be completed next Year?

Minister of Transportation and Communications of Republika Srpska Neđo Trninić said that the construction of the section of the highway January 9 on the route Banja Luka – Prnjavor, in the length of 35.3 kilometers, is going as planned.

According to him, construction of the section worth 160 million EUR should be completed by the end of next year.

“The section will be a part of the highway January 9 which will connect Gradiška and Banja Luka, and that will be the beginning of the network of highways planned through Republika Srpska. The entire section should be around 72 kilometers long from Johovac to Mahovljani, and the section Banja Luka – Gradiška is around 40 kilometers, long, so we will have around 110 kilometers of highway, but we will not stop there,” said Trninić.

Trninić explained that talks are being conducted on the construction of the highway section towards Prijedor, Mahovljani and Bijeljina, and negotiations are also being led on the Corridor 5C.

About the crossing in Ivanica - it's long overdue. It doesn't help that the border police seem to check people far more thoroughly there than at other crossings, with documents being routinely taken into the hut that they use rather than simply being checked at the roadside. They've also got a habit of checking registration documents there and Green Cards - which of course causes carnage when tourists don't have a Green Card and have to turn around.

On the Croatian side, it's just as bad - with only one lane, non-EU citizens end up getting checked thoroughly, and it's the only place where I've ever seen them actually demand to see that someone from BiH had the minimum amount of money needed to enter.

Of course, the logical thing to do would be to build a border crossing in Ivanica with the "one stop" solution, but the idiotic Schengen Borders Code requires checks to be carried out on the territory of the EU for reasons entirely unknown to me.

Looks like the remaining stretch of "9th January" motorway will be opened in two phases, first part between Mahovljani interchange & Drugovic village will be open middle of this year and then the rest, up until Prnjavor sometime in early Spring 2018.

Meanwhile, as the 9th January motorway project slowly wraps up, next project is being worked out, namely the Banja Luka-Prijedor-Novi Grad motorway - negotiations are ongoing with Chinese companies, with work expected to begin in 2018:

If i found the correct village it means that 1/3 of the remaining will open first and the gap of 2/3 later? Well at least it is possible there. The first section would not have been usable in two steps, because there is no parallel road. Or none to mention.

Is Drugovic a regular I/C?
