The red hatched area is being demolished (it will be on all its length) to make room for TRIANGLE's floor space.

In red, the part of the Hall1 to be demolished to make way for the Tour Triangle.

@Cochise: hope your don't mind me taking one of your photos for my explanation...

Strange. I've never seen a building cut in half to build something else.

Interesting design for Paris. It sort of reminds me of this:

Only in architects visualisations when hovering 20 storeys off the ground, will this tower ever be transparent. Glass, for a start isnt actually transparent. Also viewed from the ground you will see floorplates... as is the case with every tall building. Architect's shouldn't be allowed to get away with presenting transparent visions of towers when they know that in reality they will either look green or black.

because of course, no one will be allowed blinds or curtains, and they will use a forcefield instead of glass, and the interior will be lit as brightly as daylight, and glass will be completely non-reflective... give me a break! These renders have been designed to sell the project and make the developer money, NOT to accurately show what the tower will look like. They'll end up calling it the Tomb Stone

It seems the only reason some people don't want it built is because it's in Paris. The funny thing is that it's in an area that's not even that historic.

They built a glass pyramid near the Louvre and now it's a complete icon of Paris. This will most likely be one as well.

Seriously! This Tour Triangle is not ugly its hideous beyond repair… just like Montparnasse… and it’s not the architecture I'm talking about but the localisation… like a pyramid in the desert. Despite the presence of Tour DGA and F, it’s desperately isolated in a totally contrasting urbanscape. I genuinely hope for a radical change in Municipality policies in order to put an end to this whole mess that the existing authorities are making out of Paris. Same for EPAD, La Defense is supposed to be a CBD and now they’re talking about “mixité” and building cheap cubical HLM-like structures. Sorry to burst your French bubble but the skyscrapers of La Defense as it stands now are midget freaks in line with French mentality. The Tour Phare is an absolute epitome: 297m… what kind of low self-esteemed contends itself with 297m… what’s with the 300m, is it too high? Same for Hermitage Plaza… it can’t be above Eiffel Tower. It would have made sense for Levallois-Perret to raise its Twin Towers coz they stood within La Defense’s skyline but they’ve been cancelled… What kind of people aim for the low... Why would you put aside a CBD that is meant for high-rise building to sprout a dismally isolated structure in stark disharmony with Paris. Bottomline, today, La Defense is asymmetrical. The right side of the axis is cluttered while the left side would have been a perfect spot for Tour Triangle. Adding to that office space in adjacent Nanterre is much cheaper. What’s wrong with them people. I hope if the Tour triangle is built, the UNESCO will withdraw Paris as a World Heritage Site because whether you like it or not, Tour Triangle has been built not to redeem the lifestyle within the neighbourhood but because of the “clientélisme” that is increasingly rampant just like in Marseille.

This would look terrible in a cluster, like all buildings with sloped sides.
