What's the objective with the current work? I've read about clubhouse renovations but didn't know it required that much digging around the lower bowl.

They're excavating the earth under those seats to be converted to usable space: larger clubhouses, batting cages, offices, training rooms and storage.

Even if all that isn't completed this offseason it's probably more cost-effective to set up the infrastructure under the seats now, rather than doing it piecemeal season-by-season. They're basically (to use a house analogy) creating a finished basement now. Then over time, they can add what they want into the finished space over a couple of years. The total renovations will probably be phased in over 2-3 years, just like the Fenway park reno was done. BTW, The Dodger reno is being overseen by the same person who did the Fenway and Camden Yards reno, Janet Smith. |

Of course after all the work is done, capacity will probably remain at the magic number of "56,000". Some things never change.

They'll probably put everything back exactly as it was. All the seats in the stadium were replaced in 2006.

Reminds me of what the old Yankee Stadium looked like around 3 years ago. |

Some shots taken today. Would be great if someone can help figure out what's happening to the bullpen dugouts.
