Căldărușani Forest, Lake and Monastery  Căldărușani is, together with Comana, Cernica and Snagov, one of the largest remains of Codrii Vlăsiei forests. This was an impenetrable forest covering tens of thousands of sq. km, practically most of Ilfov, Teleorman, Giurgiu and Călărași counties as well as the southern part of Prahova, Argeș and Dâmbovița counties. The Căldărușani Monastery, situated on a peninsula on the lake, was founded in 1638 by ruler Matei Basarab. The tradition says that while travelling through the Codrii Vlăsiei, the prince has found a small hermitage deep in the forest, built of wood that he later rebuilt in stone. Fabulos! Imi pare rau ca filmarea din elicopter de la Orsova pe Defileul Dunarii este pe secvente, ar fi fost interesant sa vedem tot traseul care are cam 120 km pana la Moldova Noua!

In late '90, two German citizens founded a factory of socks that commercialize its products in Germany but also in the village, where you can see many people selling socks and other knitted things along the roads or in shops. |
