A forum favourite is the Eq apartment tower, with its purple glass and unusual shape. Thanks Melbourneguy for the first photo and GlennWilson for the night shot.

A couple of beautiful shots, by mouse123, of Eq (203m/666 feet) and thanks to Grollo for a wide photo from the car park of the Queen Victoria Market, which captures the very busy northern end of Melbourne's CBD. 4 of the towers under construction in that shot are over 200 metres.

That view from the market is going to be amazing in a few years. Can't wait.

I've had a problem with my image hosting site, so I'll re-post the photos of Eq which have disappeared.

Another colourful building, Light House, 218m/716 feet/67 levels, is proving better than the renders. It has pink and purple metal panels, with clear reflective glass, and a complex twisted facade. Thanks to Melbourneguy for the 1st photo.

Also, a gorgeous photo from Grollo, of the recently completed 145m KPMG tower in Docklands. The pedestrian bridge in the foreground is inspired by Aboriginal fish traps.

The long wait for Melbourne's first 100 level tower to get above ground level is almost over. A massive piling operation was required for Australia 108 (317m/101L/1039 feet), as Melbourne's Southbank has poor soil conditions (large deposits of river silt). The 1st crane went up recently. Thank you GlennWilson for the construction photo. Another tower, Crown Queensbridge Hotel, with a very similar height, is currently before the planning authorities. Hopes are high for approval, as James Packer (Mariah Carey's fiancÚ), is behind the project, which will be the 4th hotel for the massive riverside casino/entertainment complex. Thank you to db2 for render.

Melbourne has a better skyline, but Sydney's setting is unsurpassed. The former is also growing faster, but Sydney has seen a rapid surge of late in terms of output and jobs.

and i read that Sydney is 47 years older than Melbourne..
but can we say that Melbourne is the Intellectual Sportive and cultural capital in Australia ? when Sydney is the economic and financial Capital

very impressive ! the second DuBa´......i am impressed to see that Australia and his cities are so rich and powerfull now....
that's the result when you have just 20 millions inhabitants in a territory much more larger than Europe..
Australia has so much mining ressources so big territory..that's the reason why this country is so rich now !

The long delayed 80 Collins Street project, comprising a 187m/36L office tower, an 84m/19L hotel and a podium with 5,800 sq. m. of retail is getting closer. The hotel and retail section will begin within the next 3 months, with the Singapore group, SilverNeedle signing on for a 300 room NEXT hotel with the Queensland Investment Corporation. The two buildings wrap around a 52 level office building, which was once Melbourne's tallest building. With many corporations opting for campus style office projects in Docklands, the 36L office component is proving harder to lease.
