Prospects of 127 A'Beckett Street (now known as Eq. Tower) proceeding, with so many new apartment proposals being announced, are looking good, with Dean advising that sales exceed 50% before the official launch. 63 levels, 203 metres, 666 feet.

Source a motif, however infantile, then endlessly repeat it until it's flogged to death. This isn't architecture. It's the Christmas wrapping of third rate banality on a mammoth scale.

New 95m Yarra's Edge Tower 10 coming soon

Mirvac tower to launch final stage of Docklands' Yarra's Edge

The Mirvac Group has lodged plans for a 32-level apartment tower that will kick off development in the final stage of its Yarra's Edge Docklands site.
The group's $100 million ''Tower 10'' building will be the first residential tower in the 5.5-hectare Bolte Precinct but the eighth high-rise Mirvac has launched so far on land next to the south bank of the Yarra River.
''The Bolte Precinct which we're trying to get into development phase now will be the last stage in Yarra's Edge,'' Mirvac's Victorian development manager John Carfi said.
Documents lodged with planning authorities show a 95-metre tower at 160-186 Lorimer Street with 229 apartments, a small retail space on the ground level and 302 car spaces.

If you can hear cheering, it's because demolition has begun on one of Melbourne's eyesores: the former headquarters and printing works for "The Age" newspaper, also known as the "Spencer Street Soviet". A massive residential/hotel four tower re-development is planned, with heights ranging up to 90 levels (300 metres/984 feet). With so much construction already under way in Melbourne, this will take time to get started, but it's great to see demolition beginning. As with so many buildings of this era, asbestos will complicate the demolition process.

UrbanMelbourne (Mark Baljak) is first, as usual, with info about yet another project in Melbourne's Southbank: the Opus Tower (37 levels/246 apartments) has planning approval and is currently taking "registrations of interest". It is at 57 City Road and is opposite Melbourne's tallest building, the Eureka Tower (91 levels).
